I know there was a poll a few months ago asking what the best expansion, but what, in everyone's opion is the worst expansion?

I'm sensing an imminent flood of GoD or LoY.

My least favorite so far has been PoR, I think. I just don't feel inspired by any of the content since I'm still working on all the crap from the previous expansions. I liked LoY because it was a nice mid-midhigh expansion. LDoN was pretty good cause it was easy to get a group but nowadays it's the suck, for both exp and loot. I've actually ended up liking DoDH a lot, myself. I completed every spell mission and the progression just doesn't seem so ridiculous; it's fun and doable.

There, I got my opinion in early =)

I would have to say that DoDH was the worst... I just don't like the content very much.

DoDH has an extensive amount of content you need a solid group to complete, so I can see a lot of people not liking it for that reason alone.

oh, I forgot to say mine. I have actually only encountered 4 expansions (3 really, b/c im counting PoK as PoP) Luclin, Kunark and Old World zones, but i would have to say GoD. I dont know of any features it added and i never hear of anyone talking about it, where as OoW+ people use zones or features and older expansions added better zones and features.

GoD, i still have not done practically any of the zones, unlike every expansion before or after.

It was so totally aimed at the uber crowd that it totally missed anyone who wasn't in a raiding guild, it could have had it's uses if they hadn't shoved it completely out of the way and for some bazaar reason reintroduced boats to the amazement of just about everybody.

I have yet to step into PoR but thats more through lack of opportunity than anything to do with the expansion.

I couldnt disagree more. Yes, it felt like it was for the uber only on relase, but that was because it was so badly tuned (specifically tuned to lvl 70s, which didnt exist yet). Now that it is adjusted properly, its actually a very good expansion. Problem is no one likes to go their because they still think it is as rough as when it came out.

As for the worst from where I sit, LoY without a doubt.

GoD isn't a problem of difficulty, it's a problem of perception.

Although ikkinz loot is kind of falling behind now with dodh cursor rewards, it's still pretty good, and for a lot of it, pretty easy.

for that matter, the ikkinz RAID lootdroppers are easy... anyone with a tank over 10 or 11k buffed, a solid group, and enough people afk to fill in the minimum requirements can do them.

Yeah, GoD and LoY are ontrack for my opinion. LoY wins out for me, since, well.. all I can remember is taking my high-level Druid into the content and camping a light-blue named in hopes of a rare Charm drop with this Wizard-Necro duo kept trying to hunt me down.

I still am embittered with PoPower for destroying our notions of an expansive world and powerful dieties. The gods suddenly became mortal.. very much so.. and Norrath shrunk dramatically. I mean, com'n, I've heard some complaining that high-end trash is now more powerful than some of the PoP gods.
SoLuclin earns an honorable mention for The Nexus, which also shrunk Norrath, but it didn't do so as badly. This, plus some of the content in it was kinda neat. /auction WTS Centi LS! I liked it overall, just not The Nexus.

Kunark was great, same with Velious. Luclin was pretty good.. lots of camping though, right? PoP was great in that it introduced progression, well, great for many, but I still dislike it's shrinking and standardizing effects, not to mention the lore complications. LoY wasn't.. much of anything.. LDoN was great for being able to get a quick group, even if the EXP wasn't up to par. I basically quit after this, so I can't really comment on the rest. Came back a lil bit during the DoD era and loved the MM's, but they got monotonous and people seemed to complain about them a great deal.

All makes you miss Verant, huh?

luclin sucked.

shard camping.

sets a precedent of aliens instead of dragons/eqlike creatures.

first really bad tech problems with eq, ever.

dev1 - lets make raidfights harder! dev2 - okay! 50x hp! TAHDAH!

emp cockblocking.

worthless armor quests.

nerf nerf nerf, nerfity nerf nerf nerf

sets a precedent of blowable scripts.

ssra was originally completely unitemized because a dev thought guilds raided just for fun.

I loved GoD I think it was the best IMHO.
#13 Apr 16 2006 at 10:16 PM Rating: Decent
I'm actually enjoying God progression much more so than PoP progression. I'm starting to hate meldstone farming, tho.

Not sure which one was the worst. Probably Luclin. The armor quests sucked so badly, and the rollout was so buggy.

For once, you're right Groogle. What the hell was with that Twilight Armor crap? 20+ hours of camping for each piece for one item you could just as easily replace with bronze.

pfft, I'm almost always right! =p

or rather, I tend not to argue the point when I'm not positive I'm correct.

I also Loved luclin VT raiding was one of my favorite things to do. I loved the racing the competition it caused....the late night Blood Spawn calls in SSRA =p.

I think LoY was my least favorite

My Favorites were
GoD
PoR
Luclin
PoP
OoW

LDoN worst ever. All instanced zones with a group of three minimum (or is it four?). Being primarily a soloer/2 boxer made this expansion completely useless for me. It didn't even offer any new AA's and only a few crappy spells.

DoDH probably second worst. Again too many instanced zones/tasks that have minimum requirements. Bad geography in some zones and wierd mob actions. Like warping to you or even back to spawn point, I know that happens in other expansions too but seems to be on a regular basis here. Some good new loot but in some cases it was overpowered for how easy the mobs were and in others it was to weak for how hard the mobs were.
#19 Apr 16 2006 at 11:18 PM Rating: Decent
Bah Tacvi is still farged up sure really nice drops but for all the effort "trash mobs" from hell the payoff is fugly. Best part about GoD is the one zone people actually hunt in Natimbi for the 30-40 crowd. Progression missions no one messes with anymore as their is no point better gear had for way easier in lots of expansion. Zone names that are totally uncreative. Tipt is still done but only cause its required. Its pretty much whatever it takes to gear up thru Tunat and move on, rest of the content Epic raid here and there. LoY at least gave me bank space, from God I got....hmm pre OoW can only think of the ablity to solo in Vxed as an advantage and post less then that.

LoY I have 3 zones that get actual use by 4x the population of Natimbi the 1 zone people actual use, really how many people Experience thru GoD vs LoY of Dulak, Gunthak, NAdox. LoY also meshes with the fantasy world way better then the oops lets toss some stuff on mix of GoD. LoY I get Goonies revisted and to play with pirates, and I like all the pirate models cept the gnome (that one is buggy and never looks like it is attacking). The audience to be honest is 90-95% male and I love the eruidite, dark elf, hell even the female troll in Dulak.

So to sum it up high end your better off with other stuff besides GoD, and if you actually play to have fun or exp or are not uber your better off with LoY. No LoY has no high end content but it helps add to the immersiveness of the world and gave you bank slots. GoD gave you bugs up the wazoo, an end zone they didnt think out or even put in place and try and fix til like 8 months later and the ability to beat it like 7 months after it was released cause whoops Tunat was too hard and you needed the spells and levels of OoW to have a chance.

If we take it thru to today we still find people enjoying themselves in LoY thru alts or experience groups. GoD we find oh Mshas up, oh raid, oh epic help have to do something stupid in some stupid zone in GoD.

Not that I think OoW fits any better with the Lore and such of EQ but the content at least is 500% better.
#20 Apr 16 2006 at 11:23 PM Rating: Good
tacvi's payoff for the effort is exquisite. at first entering the zone, it's probably second best payout for the effort at zone breakin, right up there with time.
#21 Apr 17 2006 at 12:11 AM Rating: Decent
It is great loot but really GoD is boiled down to Tacvi (well and the Mshas), at least with say PoP you cant say the only place worth a crap to play is Time.
#22 Apr 17 2006 at 12:14 AM Rating: Decent
Also I need to mention I hate fargin Uqua, that should probably be in caps but =P, and after helping get PC, FN and now trying to get Oasis thru it I really really really hate GoD.

I really really dont want to try Intuka again either and not looking forward to it as I know I again must.

tacvi and qvic are the gearing zones of god.. just like fire and time are the gearing zones of pop. I mean, how many raid guilds farmed gear anywhere besides fire/pop?

both expansions had lower end content too.. although, god's gear, great as it was for singlegroup stuff/effort at the time, was admittedly outpaced faster.

Aye GoD is never used except for top end raiding. but PoP has Top end areas of Fire/Time and I still run into groups in BoT, Storms, Nightmares,Innovation. I just cant say that about GoD. You raid it you never play it, add to that the fact that it wasnt til long after the expansion was out that you could even do that and its the worst expansion ever by far.

but - very few people group in PoP, outside of pretty much pofire, and povalor for the lower crowd. face it - when you create a group to xp in pop nowadays, you aren't going there for the exp or for the loot, but more the nostalgia/neatness factor. more people xp in pop than god - still - but, imo, that has a lot more to do with the initial impression of the expansion than the actual expansions themselves.
#26 Apr 17 2006 at 4:39 AM Rating: Decent
Actually I still see em alot in BoT too but that I think that is mostly cause where else you gonna get the SPs, GRW with a group or solo where your grouper/soloer does not need a set up that is Time+. Still see people soloing in HoH too. Really its there GoD just doesnt stack up.
