So from what I am reading there may be a level increase in the offing. I don't doubt that eventually they will but I have a suggestion when they do.

Make level > 70 shroud down to play lower level zones. Heck, I'd like to see that now. Do we really need level 70s camping hill giants? Make em shroud down to 55 and give giants banishment power heh...just trying to be sporting. Obviously you cannot level limit some zones (like Rathe since Froglok city is there), but some zones you can.

A moss snake says "You are too experienced to fight the likes of me, begone!"
A moss snake has banished you!

The article that mentioned the possible classic server also mentioned a level increase to 75 (most likely) or maybe even to 80 (highly unlikely) in the next expansion. I'm just waiting for people to single-group or solo the PoP gods.

Most of the trash in DoDH Missions hits way harder than PoP Gods. Most PoP God encounters are designed to tie up 72 people. They have scripted adds galore.. or waves of things to get to them.

All the ones that do not, have been soloed long ago.

every PoP god has been single grouped.

I've soloed two or three on my shaman, who isn't exquisitely geared.

It also sounds like the next expansion will be huge. They mentioned you would be able to level from 1 - 70 in just the new expansion. I would imagine that would include a new starting city. Do you think there could be a new race since there will be a new city? Not that I think we need a new race. There are plenty of choices already.

Kunark 2.0 is what I'm hoping this expansion will turn out to be.

Edit: Also, I've been itching for a new class, has anybody else felt this? It would seem natural to eventually fill in the remaining opening in leather classes, but I don't really want that.

I believe one of devs said there wouldn't be any new classes, but could possibly be a new race (albeit this was pre-fan faire).

There are too many class balance issues as it is.

^^^ That was my thought concerning a new class but I dreamed that they were organized enough anyway. For a new race they'll probably just recycle something like kobolds or gnolls or something. I can see with the possible model revamp that they could do that.

Why are they going to release the new expansion and the "progression" server at the same time??

Wouldn'y everyone want to be on the new server and not in new expansion zones.

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I've already got a level 70 character. Why would I want to start over just because it's cool and fashionable again?

The new server sounds like something more for new players. Plus I wouldn't mind to see how it was when EQ first came out. There are quite a few people who have recently started that might find everything that EQ has now is overwhelming.

new players will either quit altogether, or move to a non-'progression' server about an hour after they left the tutorial.

Ick. Part of the wonder of EQ is being able to grow and do more- if an incease in level resulted in inability, that would be contradictory to the theme of growth.

There needs to be enough offered from higher level encounters to keep the higher levels engaged in their appropriate activities. If knocking down HG's is more profittable soloing for a 70 than other oppurtunities that are more level appropriate, the high-end of the game needs rebalancing as opposed to restrictions.

Sure, a 70 walking through the zone might knock over one or two for a laugh, but there's not many times one would walk so far out of the way for such encounters, nor would one sarcafice time that could be spent elsewhere.

The tutorial is among these "features". Would you quit being such a troll?

it's been stated that the new tutorial will most likely be included.

now could you please stop posting in threads you know nothing about?

thanks.

Well, this is directly above, so I'm not quoting.

Look at the tutorial. It's an expansion zone, even if it wasn't released with one. You can't seperate the two from one another.. the very tutorial itself is based on a Task.

Quit trolling and quit taking things so roughly. My orginal reply was only to point out that the tutorial isn't going to be there.. and that you're quite a bitter person, obnixously so! My point on EQ was valid, even if you're up for your own conclusions on yourself.

it's not an expansion zone, you momo. expansion zones are... released... in.. expansions! GO FIGURE!

it's been stated that most, if not all of the free addon zones will be included on this server.

gee, it's too bad that the task system isn't really an expansion feature either...

me thinks someone doesn't quite understand what trolling is.

will you stop posting on threads you know nothing about yet?

.....my money is on Czae. (even tho he plays at a lvl that I can only fantasize over), he knows more about the game mechanics than most of the rest of us put together...

and whats this raising the level cap? I took 3 years to get where i am now, Chasing off to 75, or god forbid 80.../groan!

Um, yeah, I am betting against Groogle when, um, I miss that it's him.

But that said, a cool Hamilton that they are locking zones and little else. They will not want to make this old thing too custom. Betting it will be the "complete" software on your hard drive and not require you to re-patch to play on a regular server.

Tasks, channels, I betcha in game email and the new CS system will be there.. you know they will.

They will just block zones and add encounters to open them.. like the Nest.

A side wager that the PoK books will be there, always, just not active.

So.. I am betting on the Tutorial.. and Task Masters in the old world.. and Noams instead of Boats.

My question is.. will you be /shouting in the WC.. or will they find some way to port you to the Bazaar, hmmm?

Hehe. Yeah, you're right, they're going to keep the tutorial.

Reasons this is something Sony is too lazy to do:
-Reward, the Kobold Skull Charm
-Tasks, (There's only one quest in the damned zone)
-Zone out to PoK
-Focus effect items! (The tutorial will be the one zone in the entire game where you can get them)
-That's right.. why wait for a FBSS when you can get a Ranged item with Haste?
-Fine Steel Longsword?.. lol. Yeah, the tutorial items won't unbalance anything.
-Free HP buffs/heals for an NPC in town. It's a free power level.
-You can /open barrels for bows that sell for over a plat. Constantly.

And, I'll acknowledge, there is the potential Sony will just cut out all the barrels, rework the zone out, remove focus effects and the items centered around them, remove/rework armor drops/rewards, remove weapons, remove all the tasks, take out that sword spawn in the river, remove the buffer/magic instructor, take out the introduction task and it's reward, get rid of the Haste item, and fix all those other things I'm sure I've forgotten, but I sort of doubt it.

yeah, it would make an awful lot of sense to remove it, and they might still do so based on player feedback... but this is sony.
