Speaking of which i remember when Stromm went live and i challenged my wife to be the first player making banded on the server.

She did it in 3 hours and made a profit from making it alone and selling to vendors prior to people being able to buy it at the price the NPC bought it for.

Rat tails and rusty weapons ftw!!

one thing that i think would be very nice is if they would bring back the original UI as a option on this server

Just to let everyone know, someone has started a server forum for the new progression server:

http://progression.inquisition-eq.com/index.php

cheers

As neat as it would be to start with up to Velious, I think it'd still be much better to be all the way back to Classic. Vox and Naggy are just such good memories..

I'm assuming this isn't the case, but it'd have been neat if they reset things that no longer dropped or spawned. You know, own Mistmoore a bit before he becomes a demigod. ;)

I'm not sure I follow you here. The progression server *will* start with only Classic EQ. Kunark, Velious, etc. will each have to be "unlocked".

That's what he's saying. That it ould be cool to start with up to Velious but he's glad that its only classic EQ.

[/sm]thats what I think he means[sm]

I am not going to read all 81 posts in this thread. I am just going to troll based on the title.

"Old school server coming"

There will be absolutely nothing old school whatsoever about the progression server.

I have a few questions about this. Ok its more than a few.
Q1. Will you have to sit and wait for a boat to arrive like you did in the begining .... or will they just put Gnome TL's at the end of the docks.
I would rather see the TL's than have to sit threw patch after patch every month because the boats stoped working .. let alone falling off one at the zone line and drownding in the midle of nowhere.
ABOUT POK
Q2. What about the PoK stones? will they be there from the start but inactive untill you reach lvl 51.
Q3. Right now PoK itself houses lvl 10 threw 20ish starter level armor quests what will they do about them?
Q4. Will we without PoK have to endure the EC trade tunel again?
Q5. And, what about guilds .. and the Guild Lobby in PoK.
Lets face it PoK itself is a hub of banks, tradeskills, bazaar, and guild lobbies .. not to mention a much easier way to get arround the world of EQ.
Q6. Will they be leaving in the game all of the new quests and missions associated with and confined to the old school zones?
Q7. What hapens if you have all 11 expansions?
I know that you can still go down to Wal-mart and buy the original game with the two expansions siting right next to the 10 expansion platnum pack. Or will they re-sell an updated version of that tri-pack with the new addition toutorial disk?
They have messed with several zones and added new races and booted out of the original cities several races.
Q8. no Sharval no Frogloks(the player character race) No berzerkers who am I leaving out?
Q9. pre vamped Mistmoore, Ferona Vie(the city), Lavastorm , Guk/Grobb, Freeport, Splitpaw. These original zones before they got taken over and leved up housed lower level armor quest items and starter races what about them?
Thats enough for now
Thank you
Sory I meant Titanium pack not Platnum pack .. I think i have one of each

Its about time, the new expansions have really ruined EQ over the years... Lets just hope they stop the server progression at Velious.

I'm pretty happy with the way the expansions have worked out up to DoD. I'll say that PoR so far seems to be a piece of crap though.

I just don't see the big fuss about going back to the old ways. I came from the old ways, I did that for years, then I got better gear and I moved up. Why do I want to go back to the beginning again?

I would imagine if they require some sort of task to unlock the next expansion it would probably be something like Kill both dragons and maybe Cazic Thule and Innoruuk?

I think the idea is good, but once again people will power grind there way up. It doens't matter if you only have a set of leather armor if you have a tightly knit guild who doesn't care to play every waking hour they will be 50 in no time.

Far as what versions of those zones are concerned I dont' see how they would even consider having splitpaw full of lvl 60+ elementals, I don't see it being possible to handle that zone even with a raid of lvl 50 pof/poh geared toons. I think the trash mobs in there hit for what 700ish?? I think Splitpaw was redone 3 times wans't it? Started of just a step above blackburrow, then they beefed the gnolls up later on, and now its elementals? Kinda the same with Cazic Thule. I imagine both zones will be original, I am sure they still have the database to load the old zones.

Be really neat if they allowed players to loot the items taken out of the game (IE ALL ALL mask of deception, rubicite, manastone, etc).

The only thing I DO NOT miss about old school eq1 is the fighting over mobs. IT was stupid having to schedule a raid in Plane of Fear and even then hope some guild didn't steal a few mobs out of there during the night.

I also seen they was talking about the next expansion having SOLO content? I wonder what they mean by solo content that is kinda foreign in this game? And it clearly said eq classic with the change to unlock expansions.

Something they should consider is putting a mandatory wait time on unlocking each expansion. Like say you can only unlock a expansion every 2 months? Because you know once they unlock eq classic it won't take long for ubber hardcore peopel to unlock kunark, and probably even less time for velious since there is no level cap to increase.

I have said for a long time that these hardcore people really can ruin games for casual players.

They are probably going to fall between two stools.

The more anally-retentive "old-schoolers" like the thing Tarv translated for us won't be happy because it doesn't go far enough - "They left MAPS in for crying out loud - I didn't get to 50 wearing only a jockstrap and using a rusty dagger to be insulted by MAPS!"

and for those wishing to revisit "the old days" it'll probably be too harsh for comfort.

And some bored guild or other - possibly even a startup from here a la AS - will power through it. We know so much more - they will leave so much more in than was there on day one. They will undoubtedly mess up turning back the **** and leave in items and mobs that are inappropriate. I'd not be at all surprised to see the elementals in Splitpaw still.

And you can almost bet that when the anniversary comes the Fabled mobs will spawn in places totally unable to deal with them. And what about Halloween. They won't be staging the old "Hey look I'm a werewolf" they used to. It'll be rampaging skellies on all servers and I bet money they forget to exclude this one. Naggy and Vox aren't as tough with Steel Rod of the Knight as they were with SSoY.

It's still a tempting proposition but is it tempting enough?

uberguilds woulnd't be able to ruin it for everybody if they did graduated servers.
You finish one expansion and you can then /moverequest to the next one where the next expansion is unlocked.
