What's the least-hated race on Norrath?Follow

I was gonna pick a Dark Elf, simply because they make good Necromancers. However, I read that they're killed on sight by guards in MOST towns. This makes me sad. :(

Which race is welcome by the majority of towns, or perhaps even all of them? Does the Necromancer class itself have enemies in towns that will attack me? Thanks for any clarification!

Being a necromancer in and of itself is going to cause some pretty negative faction.

The old answer, used to be gnomes. It might still be.

Another option might be a froggie. I rolled up a necro froglok not too long ago, and as I remember, he had okay faction in a lot of places that I didn't expect him to.

You can always just create the race you're curious about, and use pok to run to all the cities, to see if the guards kill you.

Pre-level 10, there's no death penalty.

Also, if you feel like spending ALOT of time on it, you could always just go with what you like, and repair your faction.

Plus, you don't need to visit every town in the game with just one character. That's the beauty of having alts.

That aside, from what I understand, the least hated player race in the game isn't on Norrath at all. It's the Vah Shir on Luclin. (But they can't be Necros.)

Suprisingly however a de necro doesnt start out kos to freeport militia. I didnt go near enough to a knight to check out their love.
Faction is not that big a deal, except for when you get a friendly druid to port you, and the unfriendly druids at the port destination attack you. First time it happened in N K, result was a dead ogre beastlord. The second time it happened, the Shaman was high enough that I was able to outrun the mob.

I have a human necromancer whose diety is Innoruuk....like the fact that there aren't all that many human necros. My starting city was Freeport and have very few problems going anywhere there...little gnome in WFP (used to be in NFP) that will try to jump me but he's little more than a speedbump. Did the red wine quest quite a few times so can run pretty much all over Neriak with no problems (have higher faction than in Freeport)...the undead right outside of the necro guild hall area will attack but invis vs undead fixes that.

Freeport and Neriak the only cities I cared about...kinda cool having newbie dark elves send me tells warning me the guards would kill me if I didn't leave. lol Elves, dwarves and gnomes don't like me but I don't like them either so we're even. Some parts of Qeynos don't like me but I don't like Qeynos much so works out okay...druids hate me but then I can't help the fact that they're jealous. ;) Oh, yeah, and the Barbarians hate me too but then I'm more of a warm-weather kind of guy anyway. As long as you can establish a base of operations...like Freeport and Neriak for me, you're fine. Learn to embrace the hate... :)

I think the Vahshir can go into any city. I think there are parts of some cities, that they are KoS, but I think they can bank in every city.

I played an agnostic Erudite, could go pretty much everywhere. Until I started to kill DE Guards that is ;-)

Easy answer Vah Shir are the least hated race in the game if your agnostic as a vah shir you can go to almost any city no other race can say that. and wasnt one of the selling points of luclin that the "new" race was in fact neutral?

My gnome cleric (bertox) was at worst dubious to almost all cities and even the undergrounds including OT. Firiona Vie being the notable KoS exception. Maybe Halas too, but some factions within some cities were KoS, like clerics in Rivervale hehe..

An agnostic gnome should have very few (starting) faction problems.

Race wise, I'd go with Halflings. At least, this was true in the original days of EQ, not sure how the Vah Shir stack up.
