Suspending pets are great to keep their buff timers on pause while you get to the zone your goin to or when you log for the day...
that'd be persistant minion you're referring to there, not suspend minion.
suspend minion 1 suspends warder/pet but wipes buffs/weaps/armor and does not maintain warder/pet across zonelines.
suspend minion 2 suspends warder/pet with buffs/weaps/armor but like SM 1, does not maintain warder/pet across zonelines.
and of course, neither maintain warder/pet through logging out.

coming up with nothing...
then you're not trying hard enough.
pet pulling. suspend warder/pet, cast green warder/pet to mobs, and pull. necros and shadowknights have added benefit of FD'ing while pet pulling. not sure what mages and shammies do, but we beastlords make do or die or zone. i've successfully solo'd ldons using pet pulling.
back up warder/pet in case one dies. handy on raids where warders--if allowed mind you--have the life span of me soloing Quarm.
persistant minion, as well as the above covers:
convenience of not returning to PoK to shroud to keep a warder/pet.
convenience of not having to burn mana to cast a warder/pet if logging unshrouded.
so, there's not only a use, but several very good uses for beastlords to buy SM 1/2 and PM.

the fact is, when you die, any pet you might have had suspended, goes bye bye (you die, you have no more pets, suspended or no).
with PM, before rezz, cast warder/pet and suspend. you'll have a warder/pet w/o the inconvience of waiting for mana to regen yet again--hey, you're only gonna lose that mana again, might as well use it.

trying to raid gear a pet would be a total waste.
agreed.

Plus i dont know what kinda people you raid with, but i couldnt' convince anyone i raid with to let me have raid loot for my pet!
no, b/c it's typically no drop and that's a total waste--better to let it rot.

Mage Pet armor and rusty weapons are the only thing you will want to fork over for your pet.

that's not the advice i'd expect from someone with as many AA as you have. rusty weaps and mage armor? why not mage weaps--fists, blades, etc--and, while soloing, throwing gear that'll rot/dupe lore/can't use on your warder/pet? my warder had quite a few nurga drops on it b/c of duplicate lore messages; might as well put the stuff to use.

I regret getting suspended minion AA's now, and wish i would have just gotten pet hold and pet affinity (pet able to get group buffs).
i got suspend 1 and 2 before i got discipline or affinity; its worked very well for me. though, i will say i've enjoyed affinity if anything for the mgbs and group HoTs and paragon taking on warder. also, i really should pick up pet discipline but stubbornly refuse...ok, so i'm a glutton for spamming the back button.=)

Its up to you, but dont think that your gonna have this one all time awesome uber pet thats gonna never die, cause it aint in the cards son!
i can agree somewhat--it depends upon what AA he has. a 70 beast without avoidance/BF/WA/etc seriously needs to reconsider their AA choices if SM 1/2 and PM are taking the lead.
none-the-less, i've kept the same warder with ghetto persitant minion--shrouding--for over a month. granted, i didn't raid during that time, but i was logging about 2 hours a day soloing/grouping.
handy is all i have to say. breaking the DSP side entrance of GE w/o adds is fun stuff for one example. even though solo'ing ldons isn't everyone's cup of tea, it's an interesting experience i think all beasts should try. mana saving is always a good thing to me, whether before a rezz or logging on the next day. raiding and having a spare--or even just grouping and especially solo'ing is handy.
one could suggest with the amount of mana regen, pots, mind buffs, GH hottub etc, SM 1/2 and PM don't have the lustre they used to, and one would be correct. but that doesn't mean the AA is totally lacking a sheen.
