DoN Cultural ArmorFollow

I have a few questions about DoN cultural Armor.

The first question, and one that will decide if I actually start the quests is do you actaully need the DoN expansion to do them?

If you do, is there an alternative cultural armor quest?

My next question is how do you actaully start them, and what level do you need to be?

My last questions is is the armor worth the work? Is it better than armor that could be quested for a character in his twenties?

Thanks in advance

Yeah, I read the thing on Alla, but it doesn't say anywhere if you need DoN. I've realized it looks really tradeskill oriented.

Not 100% sure but will the tradeskill task giver give you the task to get the cultural armor book if you do not have DoN? I know my one account that does not have OoW, the (OoW) taskgivers ignore my toons when they ask about tasks.

Personally, I didn't see the journeyman armor as worth doing the tasks. You can gear up with other , easier to get stuff that will get you through to 35th level just as easily. At 35th, though, the expert's IS worth doing as it is some of the best armor that is relatively easily obtainable for anyone up until about level 50ish.

The trade skill task giver will give me the task to get the book, so maybe i can do them? Does anyone have any suggestions of better armor to get(besides Bazaar) for low twenties?

Only the grandmaster tier symbols require access to the Dragons of Norrath expansion. (Grandmaster tier armor may also require drops from DoN.) The lower tiers can be done completely without DoN.
That was off of EQtraders

I have done DoN for several races. For the low 20s, unless you are doing it to improve your tradeskills, the journeyman's armor is ok, better than the old newbie quested armor. In most cases you would do better with LDoN crafted for plate/chain wearers. I tend to look to AC to determine value at this stage.

Expert Armor is quite good (from level 35) to level 50. You will be looking at that stage to replace, but it is a long 5 levels to 55 when you can wear Master's.

Keep in mind DoN crafted armor only covers the 8 'visible' slots (wrists, head, hands, arms, legs, chest, feet). You still need stuff for those other slots (fingers, ears, waist, back, shoulders, face)

What is a cultural forge. I printed the directions for completing the quest off of EQTC and it metions a cultural forge a couple of times. Where are these located and what is the difference in them and a normal forge?

There is a forge in your character's home city that has a forge flagged as 'cultural.' I think eqtraders usually lists the one it is, via location points, if I recall correctly.

A cultural forge can only be used by a player of that culture's race. It will tell you if you are the wrong race, sometimes they are just named 'Forge' so there no way to tell. Nice thing now though, you can do regular OR cultural combines in a cultural container. You can ONLY do cultural combines in a cultural container.

For DoN gear, the armor must be made in a cultural container but the augments can be made in regular or cultural containers (forge, sewing kit).

my biggest grip about the DoN cultural armor is that you cannot sell the armor to a vendor or tribute them. You are stuck trying to sell it in the bazaar in a faint hope of trying to break even on the cost of making it.
