Dunno what your problem is, I am duel boxing on the same PC and not lagging, and your system is better than mine.

Yeah I'm a fellow player from another server. I been search about how to do what you said you do all over the internet and have no clue how you manage that. When I try to run two exes of eq, one loads, and other one crashes. I even run one as one user name and other of another user name. If I have to use fast user switching, then one of my toons usually dies. I want to run two windows of eq on one windows xp user name, thats duel boxing eq with two accounts. If you have some sugestions please reply. or I will also to try to contact to get info out you. any help is well apreciated.

I can run two windowed versions of eq on ELne's machine as it has more memory. If you want to try it you should have a fast machine with enough memory.
I use alt tab a lot when I am running 2 on one.
Some folks call running two games on one machine botting, or roboting. After all you are not two boxing as you are only using one machine.
Post your machine on the tec forum if looking for suggestions on running two games.

In order to run two or more instances of eq in one computer, you'll have to use third party software such as Wineq2. Also you'll need to have at least 1gb of ram for this.

I dont believe Wineq has been installed on elnes machine, and yet as stated above, I have run 2 at once. Havent tried this in months however, so when did they make that change?

I have run as many as three individual windows of EQ on one machine. 1 GIG of ram and I lower the amount of options/graphic settings to the point where it runs relatively smoothly. I have an OEM 128 Meg Graphics card(NVidia 200) that came with the machine. Nothing too spectacular but with the right amount of tweaking down settings you should be able to run at least two windows on one machine with as little as 256 Megs of RAM.

I'm currently running 2 EQs at the same time on one computer with no problems at all. So they definitely have not changed the ability to do that.

Lately I've tried to run 2 accounts without winEQ, but when I bring up the second one it says there was a problem with this file. Then it ends the program. It runs through the patcher fine and acts like it is going to come up but it won't. I've run a full file scan on it and it still doen't work. It worked 2 weeks ago when I got back from a weekend getaway it no longer works. I also have two different files for EQ one for each account. If all else fails I guess I will reinstall it. Any other ideas before I do the reinstall?

I haven't bothered with using two different program locations, I just load up the same one for each instance I run. Works fine for me. I'm not sure whats happening to yours, but maybe try running both off one of your EQ programs.

I use wineq version 2.0 (lavishsoft.com)with the free software I have run 2 accounts for a couple years.

Just recently I moved one charactor to a third account, so now I am running 3 toons on 1 machine.

The lavish soft forums have always given me operating answers in a day or so, so I have stayed with them and recently upgraded to the pay version...money well spent as far as I am concerned.

I have the option to tile the 3 or layer them and the software forces eq not to be so hoggish with the memory, so all is good there.

I hope this helps you, and good luck.

Jonwin,
I am no expert but it was my understanding that you couldn't run 2 instances of EQ in the same pc. I tried once many years ago and couldn't. It wasn't until recently that I began fiddling with Wineq2 and tried botting again. So I guess I'm wrong. Sorry for the bad information to the OP.

I'm currently using WinEq2 and it works like a charm.

I run an amd athalon 1800+ with about 1gig of ram I have a nvidia video card. I have run 2 instances of eq before using wineq. It worked very well.

Then i didnt do it for a few months..so when i went back to attempt it, the first instance loaded but the second did not. The message i got was..not enough video memory.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Its "dual boxing". Not to be mean, just.. I don't know, I just read very literally.. I saw two boxes dueling in my mind when I read the thread title.

with 2 gigs of ram and a 2.8 MHz and 400gb hard drive not that hard drive size matters i can put 4 eq windows up, i use wineq program helps for short cuts and cleans up cpu resorces and will let you put all 4 windows beside eachother, but would be better if you had a 32 inch monitor for that. they also have pic in pic having one of the windows forced inside of your other windows in a small window so you can keep watch on one of them.

a few yrs ago when i started playing eq i found it hard to get groups at low lvl's since then and figuring out how to dual box. i now have 3 accounts with every class lvl 15-45.

a lot say we're cheating or that we can't play well cus we're power leveling. but infact it's quite the challage dual boxing and we do learn the tasks needed for grouping, and i'm sure that dual boxes tray a few classes at least. i have expierince in all classes to 15th lvl not much but still a start. half of my characters are now in the 25-35 range. since playing i've never been the reason a group has died. learning the roles of all classes helps everyone. even if you don't want to take the time to play them read up on them, read up on grouping. i've never raided yet. but when i do i'd be reading up on it and asking a ton of questions, so not to look like a fool and get people killed.
