XP QUESTIONFollow

Taking the hot spots in the game out of the equation, If i kill something in one zone that is Blue to me do I get the same amount of XP that I would in another.

For example: If i kill something in Dreadlands that is blue to me to I get the same XP for a blue kill in Crypt of Nadox?

Nope, there are specific Zone Experience Modifiers (ZEM) that can affect how much XP you get in any zone. For example, Paludal Caverns as a 125%(??) ZEM, while LOIO has a 85% ZEM..

make sense?

Not necessarily.

The mobs themselves, even though both are "blue" to you, may be different levels, offering different exp values on their own. Also, disregarding "hot spots", each zone has its own exp modifier, which is listed....somwhere, I'm not sure where.

Thank you. I appreciated the quick response. Makes sense why I seem to level faster in some zones killing the same colored stuff.

Here's chart regarding ZEM, though it's pretty dated: Link

Check out a discussion on it here.

there is a formula, of how exp is being calculated, see here.

what matters e.g.:
- number of members in your group
- ZEM
- Mobs lvl
- your lvl

please also note, that there is a "high con" bonus for mobs max 5 levels below yours.

Also:
- Class & race EXP modifers
- Experience potions/Vet AA ability
- If pets did over half damage to MOB or not
- If pets did all damage to MOB or not
- If MOB is a merchant or quest NPC
- If AA % is set to 100% or not. (Modifers change when AA is set at 100%)
- Hot zones and other zone-based EXP mods

Bottom line is its complicated. Probably other things I forgot and left out. Remember that MOBs killed for quests can also be considered to give additional EXP indirectly.

I might be wrong but I thought I read a ways back that they took out the class / race XP modifiers, although I could be mistaken.

hm, I was under the impression that we still have exp modifiers for races (negative mod for ogres e.g. and positive for halflings) and classes (warrior, rogue). a few links and infos here

OK next question then. Best XP for a solo 51 druid who plays about 2 hours a night right now?

Quad kite wyverns in CS. Best exp I got at that level that wasn't grouping.

Jetssss,

Also you can quad the Initiates in Gulf of Gunthak ( Temple steps ) for great XP. It is a XP modified zone and you can easily pick off 4 Initiates , med up , and take the next 4. After them , med up , and you can start all over. Great XP and really easy. You will get a full blue for every quad.

From a first hand point of few, I can say that there is definitely a racial modifier.

My wife started a wood elf ranger and I started a troll shaman at the same time. We only played them together for the first 15 levels... well sort of.... by the time I dinged 15, she had already dinged 17 and we only played them together.

Also, her level 70 dark elf cleric dings AA's much faster than my level 70 troll warrior. We both have AA xp set to 100% and have actually set ourselves up so that we both had 0% AAxp at the beginning of a play session and, by the end of the session, she had dinged 1 AA and was 43% into her next where I had dinged 1 and was only 2% into another

i belive they took out the negative penatly..but the positive ones remain.

so a troll doesn't get less than others (with no +exp), just doesn't get more than say a halfling (who has +exp modifier).
