Oh well.

It works on time played. Not the time EQ has been running. Do an /played in game and it will tell you how many years you have been playing for and that will give you an idea on how long till the next vet reward.

To clarify, it calculates the vet rewards based on the number of years your account is ACTIVE for.

So, if you have paid monthly for your account for 3 years, and decided to purchase a 1 year membership, you will end up with 4 Vet rewards.

After receiving the first three benefits, when do you recieve any more? Is it annually on toon birthdate, on your next subscription renewal date or what? I have only gotten the first three and that was over a year ago if I remember right.

Any info would be appreciated!

Sort of. I always pay for 6 months at a time, when the payment covers the anniversary is when I've received mine. Let's say my anniversary is 5 months from now, but I am paying now, ahead 6 months, I will get it on payment.

/edit: So it covers the time you have paid for, bet if you could pay 3 years ahead you'd get 3 more.

And another is due for those paying a year ahead at all times. They won't be happy if they don't get one. But who knows, with SOE. To me it would be business insane to annoy your best long term customers with something like not giving them a new reward.

The new Veteran Reward (#7) is called "Intensity of the Resolute". Description on EQ Players:

This ability greatly increases the power of your melee and range attacks, your chance to perform critical hits on direct damage and damage-over-time spells, and your chance to perform exception heals on both direct healing and heal-over-time spells.

That one was already there from last year. People who buy the 1 year subscription get the next vet reward. So if I already have 7 years played, and buy the 1-year subscription, I should get the 8th reward.

Got some people saying one thing, got some people saying another thing, does anyone *actually know how the game calculates whether or not you qualify for the next vet reward?? If it's based off of when you first got your account, then I should have this one by now because I've had an account since day 1. If it's based off of actual time that the account is active, then I got about 6 more months to go, so I'm inclined to believe it actually does base it off of active time and not account origin date...

It's based on the amount of time you have paid for your account. The first 30 days, which were free, do not count. So if you started your account April 1st, then the paid time starts May 1st.

If you took a break during the time (aka stopped paying for your account), then that time does not count.

I am surprised nothing has been announced what vet award 8 is. My account has 7.2 years played and I am thinking of paying the 6 month pre-pay for my next billing cycle. That would put me REAL close to having it.

Anyone taking bets on what it could be? How about max all factions for 15 minutes? Any other suggestions?

The other piece people are missing here is that Sony did not run the pay ahead get the next reward now special like they did last year.

So....

For those of you who got your highest reward EARLY for paying ahead last year, you get no new reward for your current year of play. You have simply now EARNED your highest reward which you have been playing with all along as a bonus for paying ahead.

I can't speak for others. I started around Feb/Mar of 99. I just got my 7th award last month, and now have a played time of 7.2 years. I now pay 3 month at a time. As long as the time goes by whatever you have paid up for, there will be people hitting 8 years shortly. Even, without a special going on.

No when you pay, you get reward. If a brand new player paid in advance for 7 years, they would get 7 rewards. Not likely, but just an example. It was very stupid of SOE not to put reward 8 out there for people who pay in advance. It is based on PAY not play. People paying in advance, give SOE money they haven't "earned" yet. Which is why it was stupid, you should be rewarding your pay ahead people.

Not bad, or how about an instant super-invis that absolutely nothing could see through for a few minutes once per day. Or an instant gate, or FD once per day or week. I could think of a ton I'd love to have, even if only once per week to save for emergencies.
