Hello all,
I'm having an odd problem with my laptop which I can't figure out. Basically, every toon on all servers are moving at a snails pace. Running and all actions are very slow in response. Attacks are at full speed, but take forever to actually begin; pet commands are delayed, but the pet seems unaffected. To me, it seems like the laptop is responding very slow, but not exactly lag. The connection meter reads 125ms on average, CPU ~45%, Commit Charge 584/1245M. The laptop is a Dell Insporon 6000 with 512M and ATI Mobility Radeon x300 graphics card. A final note; I have had this laptop about 4 months, and I only experienced this problem after the PoR expansion was released. I hope the minimum specs for playing weren't upped, since I just got the bloody thing...
Any advice would really be appreciated. TIA.

I have the same problems on my laptop, it is due to the graphics card not being the "full" graphics card. I have not solved the problem, but it is mitigated for me by making sure Advandced Lighting is turned on, you can find this in the in (alt-O) game graphics options, not the start up graphics otions. Playing with these grpahics options may also help you tweak the game play. Good luck.
Most of the time when I hear about this problem, it's due to power settings. Look for a power icon (looks like a plug or a battery) in your system tray, usually in the lower right corner of the screen. Left click that and choose "Always On" before you play EQ, then switch it back to whatever setting it was afterwards. That usually fixes the "half speed" problem.

Laptops aren't really designed to handle a game like EQ. Too processor intensive. And dont try callin Sony about it. You'll find out that laptops fall under the "may not work with some video and sound cards" fine print. They won't even give you the time of day as soon as you say laptop. (Was seriously pissed when I had the fine print explained to me by a not-so-helpful CS rep). One thing I found that has helped my Dell is by making a stand for it to sit on that raises it about an inch and a half above the drawing board that I use as a desk. Then get you one of those little desk fans and point it to move the air under your laptop. Doin this has helped HUGE. I can 2 box now for just about as long as I want without having to worry about lockin up. Hope that helps.
BTW, I also noticed that since PoR came out, the game does seem to be a little slower. Hopefully they'll get that ironed out before too much longer.

For all you other laptop users out there, I thought I'd post a follow up.
The problem turned out to be what Sir KyrosKrane Sylvanblade predicted. It seems in an effort to be "helpful", laptops have a logic they use to restrict the overall activity in order to save battery. This works well in theory, but there is a known problem that once the logic is applied, say when the battery life is bellow the alarm limit, the restrictions DO NOT ALWAYS revert back to the original settings once the alarm has passed. This is why you may see the power settings in a customized mode when you are darn sure you put them in Always On!

Something tells me the power settings comment posted above'll fix it.
Just a note.. with Magic Online, my graphics card on my laptop plays it just fine.. unless its plugged in when I start, then I unplug it while playing. If I start plugged in or unplugged, and remain that way throughout the game, its fine.. just when I go from plugged to unplugged. The reason I'm mentioning this is that I'm assuming is similar.. just that the graphics card slows to lower power consumption. If the settings didn't work, I'd try keeping it plugged in the entire time, if you don't already. If you do, well then, I tried. :P Good luck.
