Do core skills progress in the game (ie. INT, STR, etc) or is it only upgraded via equipment you supply?
There are 2 ways to increase your stats.
1-With better gear that actually has stats on it
2-Lvl 51+ with AA points, that you can spend in innate stats (1 AA for 2 stats points)

oh cool, thnx. Thought I was doing something wrong.
They are changed by gear as well as, in later levels, AA's (Alternate Abilities. You gain AA exp by toggling or splitting between regular exp and AA experience. Once you gain a level of AA experience you can apply it towards abilities like STR, INT, STA, etc as well as other abilities.

AND Buffs. Some buffs will increase your stats temporarily.

as well as tribute benefits. Basically a buff that isn't cast on you and wich you can switch on/off on demand.
Check out your hometown and find your tributemaster. Don't forget you have to feed the tributes though.

HP, AC, and Mana Pool do increase with level.
