everquest needs homes for usFollow

#1 Feb 12 2006 at 1:59 PM Rating: Decent
i think SOE should make an expansion with aprtments and houses for us, have them in all starting cirties none in pok. go the same route as EQ2 apartments are free to get but cost a weekly rate of rent, mabe alow us to pay up to one month worth of rent. give us a chest to store 4 backpacks of goods. some decorating tradeskills and items to buy

to not change the towns so much they could do what asheron's call did make a portal "zone" to an apartment area under the city

alow us to buy 1 to 2 extra chests for storage. adding to rent fees. this will help take plat out of the economy

only alow one home per account accessable by all characters though the zone entering in each city

houses would be alot more work to do, unless an island of them. cost weekly would be higher and more storage mabe some crafting items there too.

just some thoughts.

i've been playing horizons again because i enjoyed having to go hop tress and plain the wood and then use carpendy skills to build my house piece by piece.

We have it already, it is called Guild Hall. Yes not accessible by non guilded players. Adding a feature like that I honestly could see never using. Next expansion will be giving us 8 more bank slots, accessible from any banker. No needing to run home to get stuff. The home cities certainly do need an overall revamp to spark interest in them. Small things that have been added in the last few expansions are very limited in keeping you coming back. I think group tasks that require like a group of only Dark elves or the similar, would rock. You know defend your god or home town type of stuff. Apartments no way.

So you want my gnome to room with my ogre?

I don't like that idea, because then you would have to run to your starting city to get something for tradeskills out of the chest. Now I can go to any bank and get what I need. I just need more bank slots (which we are getting).

Plus how much time would you really spend in an apartment or house? The only time I run to a city is to sell and put money in the bank, and maybe grab some fresh buffs. I also think you would have more people buying plat so they could have a nicer home, but that is my opinion nothing more.

I don't trust sony to code this in a way secure enough to prevent a thousand home burglaries within the first five days.

They did it in EQ2 and with that they also have the OFF-LINE Trader!

Port those 2 options in from EQ2 to EQ and Woot!

I did try it and it Sux...Bigtime!

My point was that SOE has migrated several EQ2 options back into EQ, so they could easily do this.

Yeah then Sony will need to release a new expansion again with a new class "police men" and a zone called "jail" so we can throw all thieves (and those who find in needed to kill the bankers in Corathus while people are using them will be thrown in too) into jail. In jail you will only be able to come out once you have succesfully combined 200 wooden pegs and 200 coiled springs (all no drop) to make clothes pegs, which then will be sold in Halas so those barbarians finally wash their armour and stop smelling funny.
There will also be a new faction "association of burglar alarms" so if you go back to robbing your faction with AOBA will go down and you might end up being nuked to kingdom come

No on homes. It's just not worth the trouble, in my opinion. If anyone has ever played an online RPG where you get a private home (and I doubt SOE would could them to confine what you do and say within the home itself), they're usually a very minor distraction and used mainly for um, private things. I don't think there enough role players hardcore enough to get the use out of these to justify the time to develop them.

Yes on the off-line trading , though. Bunch of folks can't be online all day with a trader up when they are not playing, so I think this would be a benefit. I think this would help ALOT to stabilize pricing in the bazaar. You wouldn't get that occasional awesome deal as much (from the guy trying to unload as much as he can before logging), but overall I think the extreme high prices would drop.

I agree with Crowdchaser, the Guildhall would be the logical choice. I don't see how the existing zones could have apartments or houses added without having an instanced zone for them, and since that's exactly what the guild hall is, why re-invent it. I'm sure this is going to be a feature in an upcoming expansion, so all we have to do is wait. Customizable stuff for the hall would be cool too, but kinda tough if the architecture isn't there. With an instanced zone like the Guild Halls, you could make those kind of foundation changes without effecting the combat zones, which are process intensive. Hell, they even have mysterious doors all over the place; open the two doors on the balcony and they lead you into your own personal room; yet another instanced zone and you don't even have to change the foundation of the Guild Hall, just apply the rules to the new zone.

As long as we have housing Smiley: lol, I would like to see some non-combat clothing, just for fun. Jester's outfits, gowns, livery, capes, etc. Silly stuff but it would be fun. Always been annoyed capes don't show. Also, more mount graphics.

I always thought it would be cool if for some halloween event you could win a hovering witch broom mount (imagine an ogre flying around on it!) And maybe a witch hat and gown!
