They made some interesting choices for hot zones this time. I don't quite understand picking Velks and OS. Those have people in them nearly everytime I go there, now you'll have people who are in these spots for exp competing with all the level 65-70s farming the hell out these places. And Rathe? Um...don't people go there anyhow all the time just for the giants?

CT will interesting , though, I also need about 10 billion vials of blood. Maybe the price will come down on those and I can just buy 'em. I like this zone alot and it rarely has people in it, so I think it's an excellent hot zone choice.

I also predict that Frontier Mtns and Fungus Grove will still remain relatively vacant. There's some semi-decent camps in Frontier Mtns, though, so I may just have to bring out my 29 cleric for some action there, assuming I can get people to make the walk.

It's nice to see them changed but I don't expect to see Sebilis, Fungus Grove and Cazic Thule crowded a couple weeks from now. Witness how "popular" Torg Mines, Nadox and Hate's Fury were a week after they were made hotzones.

Hell, a week or two after Nadox was made a hotzone, my bard was back to AE kiting in there as the only person in the zone.

I predict massive amounts of level 55 to 60 spells showing up in bazaar and prices crashing because of Seb Jugs being camped 24/7.

Cool, I love OS. Never been to CT. I will have to check that out. I will miss The Hole.

Does anyone have SOE's mailing address?

I am going to send them my Everquest CDs with instructions on how to install the game and start playing since they have never played the game they produce.

Meanwhile, in a SOE cubicle...

"Complaints to Customer Service and in the Forums is down by 24% this quarter. We need to make the players miserable again. Any ideas?"
"I know. Let's make the already hotly contested Plat farming zone of Rathe Mountains a Hotspot. That way, many new EQ players who do not know about that zone will be encouraged to go there. When they repeatedly get frustrated over the mutltiple Ice Comets decimating the Hill Giants they are fighting, our "Kill Steal" petitions to CS will go up at least 20%!"
"Great idea, Herbert. Any others?"
"Yes, I like the idea of creating misery for the player base through the Hotzone system. Let's take a zone that is not under populated at all...say...Velketors? Yeah Velks. Let's make that a Hotzone for kicks. The forums will light up about that and will help with our complaint quota."

According to Alla, there are 280 zones. The Divine Comedy.

Do you have to be level 30 to get double exp? What about the lower level mobs there?

Can only speak for Povar but I was alternating between Velk's and Sebilis for soloing on my Shadowknight. Both are abandoned and I never had trouble finding a camp and usually the only person in the zone.

The last time Fungus Grove was popular was AE Shroom groups for AA's back before Planes of Power.

Woooooot new hotzones! Smiley: yippee
bubspeed will be glad!
And we got a new answer every time someone's asking for them!

Seriously, really looking forward, can't wait to see Frontier Mountains and Gunthak! I'm just a little pi$§ed that they make Rathe Mountains a hotzone, now that I've outgrown the Hill Giants (and I've been hunting lots, LOTS of them in the past few weeks...)

Hmmm sometime ago someone gave me a "Zone Experience Modifier (ZEM) Chart" is this now obsolete or are hotzones extra on top of the ZEM zones?

As far as I know, there are still zones that have the exp modifier on them. Hot Zones are just zones sony wants you to visit Smiley: grin
Zones with exp modifiers still
Befallen
Upper GUk
Qeynos sewers
Warrens ( but it was also a hot zone, so...)
That is all i remember, as those are the places I hunt most often ( I remake charecters every month, it seems, so I am always starting over) Smiley: banghead

Hope that helps a little.

Nearly all zones have some kind of xp modifier. A lot have a postitive modifier while others have a negative modifier.

Edit to add:

Slightly outdated but I did find these:

I was under the impression ( from eq atlas and others) that some zones were positive exp modifier, some negative, and the rest were "neutral". I didn't think each zone was either positive or negative.

Goes to show, no matter how long you have played this game, there are still so many things you do not know. Smiley: glare

We expect the following items, along with the items listed under the December 20th message, will be going to Live Servers in Upcoming Live Updates, but can not guarantee they will be in the next Live Update. The next Live Update is scheduled for February 21, 2006.

That was the message at the beginning of the announcement so these zones will not become the new hot zones until February 21st at the earliest.
