How long will EQ retain its playerbase?Follow

I've been considering getting back into eq for about a week now. I stopped playing about a month after velious was released, and there's so much new stuff that it seems like it would feel like a whole new game to me. The concept of level 70 is mind-blowing! My question is, do you think the EQ community is gonna continue hanging around the way it is long enough for it to be worthwhile for me to start up now?

I wholly agree with the learned bbot that EQ will be around quite a while. IMHO, online games are as much about community as they are content, and EQ has a decent blend of both. There are problems for sure, but just like any other organization of people with dis-similar goals, they eventually reach a middle ground.

A bit of un-asked advice though; if you get back into the game, please don't speed your way to the high end. Since you left, there have been wondrous advancements made by the wise ones, and travel through Norath is much easier; take the time to explore the new lands opened to you. This will allow you to familiarize yourself to the expanding world, and you will be a better player for it.
