After all this discussions about clerics, I do have a simple question. I want to start working my clerics and am curious..

In reference to Hp , ac, and Symbol lines....without trying them out to see, is there a way to tell whether one hp buff, stacks with another and then with symbol...for example.. Temp-Symbol of Naltron-and resolution. Would they be stackable or no.

Is there a common "rule of thumb" as to figuring whihc buff/buff combo is best?

Sorry, that was 2 questions.

Good question(s). I too have a cleric and am wondering the same things. If you don't get any hits here, you can also try posting this in the cleric forums. You might get a better response there. Just some fyi. :)

temperance/virtue/conviction stack with NO other cleric hp/ac buffs.

one symbol will stack with one resolution/courage-line buff, which will also stack with one AC line buff (Ward of Valor, etc.)

one symbol + one courage line buff + one ac line buff will always be slightly better than a temperance line buff, at the downside of taking up more buffslots, and being shorter.

Throwing in my Smiley: twocents as a Dru. Dru skin buffs stack with cleric symbol for more HP but less AC. I think whatever AC buffs clerics have will stack and make up for the loss of AC (havn't tested it though) However Dru skin will NOT stack with temp/aego/virt/conv.

Yes, the Cleric AC buff will stack with the Symbol+Skin. As mentioned though, the duration of the symbol/AC line is much shorter and you'll be taking up 3 buff slots instead of one. Not much to consider for a normal group, but in raid situations it's definately something to keep in mind.

Aegolism line : Temperance, Aegolism, Virtue, Conviction

Courage/Resolution line : Courage, Center, Daring, Bravery, Resolution, Heroism, Fortitude, Faith, Confidence

Symbol Line : Transal, Ryltan, Pinzarn, Naltron, Marzin, Kazad, Balikor

AC Armor line: Holy Armor, Spirit Armor, Guard, Armor of Faith, Shield of Words, Aegis, Ward of Gallentry, Ward of Valiance,

Aegolism line will not stack with the other three lines and iirc it will overwrite all three (if lower level?). It is longer lasting and requires less mana to keep your group covered. It also only uses one buff slot.

The best benefit from the other lines would be:
Resolution line + Symbol + Armor
This is sometimes better than a corresponding Aegolism.
Faith + Kazad + Ward of Gallentry > Virtue for example.

If you have Druid Skin, use:
Druid skin + Symbol + Armor
After Protection of the Cabbage, Druid skin provides mana regen so it may be more desirable for casters to go with that combination. Druid skin will not stack with Aegolism or Resolution line.

Ideally my druid will go with:
Skin like Oak + Symbol of Balikor + Ward of Valiance

My chanter will settle for:
Conviction since she has decent mana buffs.

if you're raiding, putting wov on a caster is really a mistake, although it couldn't really hurt in a group situation.

the extra ac won't do anything at all for a druid, except take up a buff slot.

(likewise, if you have the casters available - use 10 on your chanter! It'll let you throw an extra nuke or two a minute on. Not great, but added dps helps, even if it's a pretty small amount.)

If you have the slots, why is extra AC a waste? Plan on not getting hit?

Chanter usually does not need the extra mana from 9 or Oak since she can tap mobs for mana. Easier to Conv, and be done with it.

Druid seems to use more mana. I'll use Mask of the Forest (self mana regen) C6, Kitty crack, Oak (which all stack).

Because I can get more hp with oak+balikor combo. On raids they'll usually mgb oak and bali and then give tanks WoV. It's not easier just to Conv. If you conv you'll miss anyone who has Oak up and end up giving them bali anyways.

In groups I don't care which hp buffs I get. In raids it can make a bigger difference.

Sorry you have me confused still...

WoV stacks with Oak plus Symbol does it not? You said it was a waste?

Sure, if I can get oak + symbol on my Chanter I go for it, but usually easier to get a conv buff in PoK.

My Druid already HAS the skin, so I ask for a symbol when begging buffs.

Raiding is totally different in that you can usually get exactly the buffs you want.

Edit: heh 2 posters...hence my confusion. I totally agree Oak + Balikor + WoV is the way to go for best combo.

Courage Line AC and HP short duration around an hour max with no EE.
Shield Line AC only short duration.
Symbols HP only Short duration
All above stack with each other and Symbols, and Shield line will stack with the Druid Skin line

Temp, Aego, Virt, and Conv are a long druation combination of the Courage line, Sield line and Symbols. Even thought you will get slightly more AC and HP useing the courage, shield, and symbols line they take 3 buff slots and a much lower duration time.

clerics point of view ;-P

i will only go Oak, Symbol, WoV combo if i can also get BBB and Wushi.

otherwise it is a big hit in hp and ac. as our self buff won't stack with Oak (or wushi.

so in a raid, oak, symbol, WoV, BBB,Wushi and the other shamage.

day to day groups it is Conviction + self buff. our self buff gives us HP/AC/Mana regen (equal to Oak regen).

so basicly, if no shammy and paladin, i go self buffs.

if there is a druid, shammy and paladin, gimie druid lovin too ;-P

if you have the extra slots it can't hurt, but most casters are past their ac softcap anyhow.

And don't forget that the clerics also have a shielding line that stacks with Conviction, Virt, etc.

Armor of the Zealot, at 65. It adds hit pts, mana regen and ac.

It does not stack with IOS and some other shammy buffs, and probably a few other.
