- Double experience this weekend

We sincerely apologize again for the problems caused in response to Wednesday’s update. We do understand that many characters were rolled back due to actions beyond their control along with those that took direct advantage of the situation. We also understand that many other players that were not rolled back were also affected in indirect ways. This weekend we will be offering double experience to all players. This extra experience applies to normal experience gain, including AAs. Special systems such as leadership experience, spirit shrouds, and evolving items are not affected. This event will run until Monday morning at 10am PST. Once again please accept our apologies for any interruptions this has caused in your playtime.

*** Highlights ***

- M.C. Tinkerton bids all in the Plane of Knowledge farewell as he packs up his Clockwork Party Machine and heads for home.
- The issue where player pets were attacking other players when hit by an AE spell has been fixed. Thanks to all those that helped provide information about this issue.

*** EQPlayers ***

- The leaderboards now exclude tribute, guild tribute, food and drink bonus, and leadership abilities.
- /paperdoll will now auto-update your current character's profile with a real-time screen shot of your character.
- Guild rosters will update more frequently and remain in sync with the game more reliably.
- There are a couple new menu items under the character menu. One will perform a full update of your character much like the slash command does and the other will open a web browser to your current character's profile.
- There is a new option in the option window to disable the auto-update feature to the EQPlayers site.
- Characters will stay up-to-date better.

*** Misc ***

- The issue that some people experienced with being able to cause other people to sit when they sit has been fixed.

So it's good to know that the 2 days of leadership have also gone to the not getting reimbersed pile...which leaves me with getting back about 1/4 of what I lost from they're fiasco. Good to know that they are only going to give only much as they need to to make people resubscribe and pre order there new exp again. I still don't see myself doing either.

The double xp patch has decreased the amount of whining tremendously. Personally I think they should reimburse items and flags lost. What they should have done was save a copy of every character that was rolled back before it was rolled back. Rollback the character and reinstate the aas and items and flags.

I won't complain about the double xp though. Looks like a good time to get my monk out of the 50s.

Just a note of mention...

They flubbed up the coding for the double exp. It was only going toward regular and not AA (as advertised, and as needed).

Servers coming down at 3pm EST (noon PST) and they're planning on it only taking about 2hrs.

They said they'd extend the double exp time because of this*.

(*Like most of us will be able to take advantage of this on Monday morning...)

Ok now im pissed.......

SoE took a 4 hour patch on prime euro raid time to implement double XP and they dont even get it to work.
So now they need another 2 hours (atleast) patch to fix the fix on euro prime time.
Not to mention that servers will be brought down on monday to reset double xp during euro prime raid time.
Go SoE....!

WTF?!??!?!?!?

This is actually worse then the rollback.. Couldnt they just have given everyone 2 days free gameplay and a handfull of xp potions on /claim?

SoE is losing so many players over this and thats tbh what bothers me the most.. I can live w/o playing for a weekend due to patches etc, but what I cant live with is to have to be alone on servers....

you really think so? they might lose a few, but if people are going to quit over SoE ******** up a patch they would have left a long long time ago.

and if as a Euro you are not already immune to them dropping servers at prime Euro time then well you need to develop a thicker skin, they have done it for literally years.

I wish people would just quit whining about everything and at the moment it IS EVERYTHING

whaaa whaa i cheated and got caught

Whaaa whaa people cheated and i am suffering because of them

Whaaa whaa i only get double xp not double AAxp

Whaaa whaa they are taking the servers down to fix what i have been whining about for the four freakin days.

put a f*cking plug in it.

Seriously tarv.. Your the most clueless person I have seen out there.

SoE management turned a misstake into a huge misstake. Heads needs to roll and there are allready tons of people quitting.

Most guild are allready reporting alot less players.

Get a clue.

This is no longer about the rollbacks, its about extremly bad management decissions from SoE. Lena needs to get fired and seriously Tarv, your all cocky and stuff cause your argueing on the internet! Im so impressed. Now come say ******** to my face you clueless moron.

AND NOONE CHEATED!!!!!

READ THE EULA! THERE IS NOTHING IN THERE THAT STATES YOUR NOT ALLOUD TO BUY STUFF FROM VENDORS THAT ACCIDENTLY SELLED STUFF THEY WASNT SUPPOSED TO. THERE WAS NO THIRD PARTY PROGRAM INVOLVED.

Also the majority that got screwed over had nothing, absolutly nothing to do with the vendors.

You would actually have something to say about this if you even played the game tarv.. But you dont. So stfu.

(no 27days is nothing).

Sorry bumbi but I agree with tarv about this one. SOE screwed up and they know it.

They are giving people an entire weekend of double XP.

They took the srevers down when they realized their was a problem. Did you expect them to wait and listen to more people complaine about it?

This game is played worldwide. It's ALWAYS primetime somewhere.

???

Jarkeld Hammerhiem
Lvl 65 Paladin.

Lady Adeara Coolbreeze
Lvl 70 Enchantress & GM Jeweler.

that would indicate that i have occasionally logged into EQ. in fact i have played for 4+ years, hell i have been a member of alla for more than 3 years, and if memory server it was a purely EQ site then.

Oh and no matter what way you look at it exploiting a bug is cheating.

Yes it is allways primetime somewhere and SoE should know that.
Even americans where it isnt primetime gets shafted cause of this because a few americans play at this time aswell.
Having a 4 hour patch that does nothing on a weekend and then add another 2+ hour patch to fix something that was supposed to be a fix doesnt help.

In eq2 they gave everyone 2 days free playing when they fecked up. They should have done that here to and given 10 xp potions on /claim to everyone.

It wouldnt have made everyone happy but atleast it wouldnt have pissed people off even more.

This is by far the best game out there, but its also the most poorly managed game.
Heads needs to roll for extremly bad decissions.

When they found out about the merchants they should have rolled back everyone the 30 mins of lost playtime. But they didnt cause of management. So people got rolled back. Some even 3 times. Alot of guildes that was rolled back thought "Oh well I was rolled back but atleast I can play now" so they played alot and got rolled back again. yay!

Also they stated on forums that rollbacks was not an option, and thats when I started playing and gaining flags and alot of xp.. Then they change their mind and say they will do rollbacks..

There are so incredibly many wrongs SoE has done on this issue it makes me sick rl.

Many people have quit or taking a break. And the timing is very bad since alot of people came back after the e-mail about free playtime over x-mas etc.. Alot of thoose realized when this happened that it is no use to resubscribe cause SoE is just so poorly managed.

Again how is that SoE's fault?

they are based in PST they cannot run everything on GMT time just for me!!

beside i will get a couple of hours on Monday evening now that they are going to add time on the end because of the new patch SO IT IS BETTER FOR EURO USERS!!

talk about looking on the bad side of absolutely everything.

Ok enough is enough, take your computer and throw it out of the window.

No game is worth getting ill over, it's light entertainment for the generation X. It's not the start of a nuclear war or the baylifs knocking on your door, its a week (at the most) of a meaningless computer game.

get a fucking grip you loser.

/applaud Tarv...

So many people complaining, so wasteful amount of energy. So SOE made a mistake...so a few peole suffered because of it...SOE appologized and are trying to make up for it. Had they not brought the servers down for another 2 hour patch, peolpe (like you, Bumbi) would be here posting how SOE screwed up again by not allowing the duuble bonus to apply to AA's. Your solution, giving out 10 double-xp potions, would have got complaints as well. Bottom line, SOE made a mistake, they're trying to make up for it somehow. That's it, nothing more. Heck, I could complain that me having to listen to people whine about this and wanting to boycott/quit should entitle me to triple xp for the weekend.

deleting millions of platinum, and a huge number of raid items with no warning... can't be made up by a double xp weekend, sorry.

I agree groogle.

And Tarv...do you think if only a few people cancelled there subsriptions they would have offered x2 xp on all servers for the entire weekend? Are you really that clueless man. I mean they went from saying it was are fault to saying Oh dear god please don't leave we want your money.

I will take part in the x2 p. Why? Because my account is still active for 20 more days. That's it. I'm sorry but this doesn't replace my 2 days of plat/leadership/adventure points and augs...never mind some peoples epics that they now have to start over again..

I'm sorry if there vague MoTD didn't explain to me that interacting with anyone or any vedors would cause me to be rolled back 2 days...The should have taken the server down to do what they wanted to do. Instead they let it cause a piramid affect that affected many many people...one person trades with 2 people. They trade with 2 people each who in turn trade with more people...and thousands get rolled back.

So you go on and sit there all smug Tarv. Good to see that you can be so simpathetic to people who get screwed over around you.

and as for as it's just a gane etc etc. I agree. When things happen in game I let it slide. But this was directly affecting the service I pay for. How would people feel if there TV got shut off for 2 days..or there phone. They would be pissed. Why? because they PAY for it just like we pay for this game.$30 for expantions and $15 for a month adds up to alot of money.

Yes they tried to do something to save there hides. But it was when Alot of people started to quit NOT when it was simply making there costomers unhappy.

Anyway i'm done.Flame on.

well done now you've gone from being physically sick in real life over a computer game to threating people because of a post on a web forum, is it possible you can get any lower?

140+ people in highkeep within 30 mins of the servers going back up.

that tells me that SoE don't have a serious problem with people leaving the game.

Are you stopping playing groogle? No didn't think so.

I don't agrue that there are many people still on atm. But how many of them are simply playing until account run out? I've talked to a fair number of people that are doing just that.

I don't read the future so I don't know how manay will resubscribe. I just know enough people must have cancelled there accounts/preorders to make SOE nervous.Otherwise they would have done nothing.

lorelye i have been here before, i was on this forum when the Luclin dx9 thing strtched for weeks on end and people said the same thing then.

It's mainly hot air and everything will be forgotten by next month.

By then everyone will be complaining about something else, this should be nerfed, that should be boosted. Why are MM only giving out 50% AA instead of the 130% since the new expansion??

SoE have a good record of making up for mistakes in the last year since WoW came out, it's not unusual to get an Double xp weekend if a patch goeds badly.

come back in 3 months you'll see.

In the great sceme of things it's not a big deal, by which i mean life not EQ, and people claiming to be phyically sick or threatening violence because of a PC game is pathetic.

But thats just my opinion and you are entitled to yours.

*nod* I don't think this will kill eq. It's going to loose a few people over it. Not enough to stop the game though.Which is good cause it is still a good game.I just can't justify giving my money to the people who run it is all. Not saying anyone else should though. It's just my feelings on it.

But yeah, We agree on some things and disagree on others and I can live with that. It was a rather good debate and I thank you for it. /bow

first off WTF are you talking about DX9 had nothing to do with Luclin. in fact DX9 came around the same times as Gates of Discord.

This Paragraph alone shows that you know nothing about SOE. SOE does not even have a record of making up for mistakes they simply rarely do anything. how many people took a 20khp fall when zoning just to be told that it is working as intended?? in fact out of the many mistakes SOE has made this is the first real effort i have seen from them as far as "making up for mistakes"

I had to read this a few times make sure i wasnt misreading it. Where do you get your info seriously? In 3 years of playing EQ i have never seen a double xp weekend before.

Might have been DX8 then, whatever the point is that there was weeks of patches and repatches to solve grapghics and DX issues.

I had a friend who died through falling through sceenery he got a GM rez, a couple of buffs and sent on his way.

In 4.5 years of playing i have not had a single issue in EQ that took longer than 1 week to resolve, including lost charicters returns, eaten items restored etc.

I can remember at least 2 before this one, but hey if you really don't like it write a letter to SoE.
