Is it just me, or are all the servers down at this moment? It kind of makes it hard to get double exp when you aren't allowed to log on.... :-(

They mentioned that they were taking the servers down to start the weekend. They should be up by noon est (9am PST, when they said it would start).

I'm sure they have to do some backend work to enable the double exp, especially since it's not just on mobs, but for everything that gives you exp.

Be patient, they should be up around the time that they said it would start. (And then, if they are unreasonably delayed, then we can ***** about it.)

Down again for at least 2 more hours starting at 12pst to fix the double xp and make it work for AAs.

er, not really. considering the size of EQ, and an unknown quantity of coders touching it, it's likely spaghetti. before anyone thinks i'm bashing them for such a thing please don't--i think we all know this kinda thing happens and there's more than one cause.

that's not an excuse, just the reality. in a perfect world, all code is clearly/germanely documented, the data-dictionaries always complete, and the change management log always updated.

i'm sure a good ol'refactoring project would be swell, but the costs vs returns aren't there i'd wager a guess.

otoh paw, feel free to tell me i'm speaking out of my ***--i don't do huge coding projects for a living, just small ones and then relatively limited; thankfully i can contract out to savvier folks for the bigger jobs.

For those in severe enough withdrawl to want to download the patch NOW, it seems to be up. Along with a patch message saying that Double XP will be extended until Tuesday 10am.

Servers still down though and you can't get past the log-in screen.

Most likely...outsourced development located in India. Nothing against Indians in general, but I've seen come craptastic work from the companies out there.

I suppose it may be due to language and time barriers, but more likely due to the fact that the programmers over there make about as much as burger flippers do here.

You get what you pay for...

That's good news. Glad to hear that they didn't just add the time onto Monday morning.
