OMG GIVE ME YOUR PHAT LEWT (and your fat lutes you greedy Bards)!

No, seriously though. I'm trying to max out all my character's skills.. and I just noticed the rarely mentioned "Begging" skill. So far, after much killed him, I have a skill of 20 in it. No returns as of yet. Anyhow, the point of the post is, who knows what about begging? Even little trickets of information would be great.

So far, I know:
-Has failed until (and likely beyond) level 20 skill (on my 34 Chanter).
-On my retired 65 Druid, I noticed I have about 150 skill in it (yes, I love knocking up my skills :P). I've been looking over screen shots he took for laughs, and the only ones that reflect begging show it either failing or yeilding 1cp.

map it to attack button.

that way everytime you press atack, it has a chance to go up, and it will go up on it's own. a melee has it better, they can map it to kick, bash, attack thus have more chances to use it.

it IS a requried skill for at least one quest, the BiC quest.

You need begging for BiC.
I got my begging to 190 by only using points at my trainer hehe.

Begging increases Agro or so I have been told so I have a hotkey
/pause 1,/attack off
/pause 1,/doability 4 (begging)
/pause 1,/attack
/pause 1,/Doability 5 (taunt)
/pause 1,/Doability 6 (bash)

This works great for my SK and takes a little over half a sec to run I also keep my taunt hotkey up to show when it has reset.

I'm not sure how much aggro a critical failure produces but I doubt it's much. You only need a single point of aggro for a mob to attack so begging doesn't need to add a lot. Also, ironicly, the more often you use it as a taunt, the more skilled you become and the less likely you'll get a critical failure to produce aggro in the first place.

As I've heard it (i.e. take with a grain of salt), the Begging skill was originally put into the game back in its starry-eyed days of a role-playing game. However, free gold or plat didn't fit into the whole risk v. reward model and it was quickly nerfed down to produce a copper at most. I assume its use in the BiC quest pretty much follows SOE eventually using languages in quests; taking a previously worthless skill and making it useful under a few limited circumstances to reward those who took the time to train it up.

I have max Begging skill on my Necromancer.

You can use it on pets and get skill ups without being attacked.
