As a Mage or necro or druid you can probably solo all the way to 70, maybe even a beastlord why you would want to other than loot or in between groups i dunno Learn to chain summon if you play a mage,,,

Ranger solo gets tough when you run out of fearable animals. After that you bow kite. You do have AM3/EQ don't you? LOL It gets real slow. Happens in the 50s? When Stonebrunt (the Ranger's Paradise) greens out.

I mean, why do you think I box a Cleric and Chanter, lol. I started out boxing the Druid for healing and buffs and ports (pre-PoP, pre-spires even) and moved on to the support staff once he couldn't keep up anymore.

Well Graveflowers, I have mainly soloed 3 toons up to the mid 50's and so far I have found that to be pretty close to the limit. These include a Pali, a Rouge, and a Ranger. I'm currently playing a mage and I think this one might have more potential, but I think it's more about having fun than 'beating the game'. If you like to solo, then you might want to consider playing a few different toons, but don't loose sight of the social aspect of the game; it's more fun if there's more than one!

Natimbi, PoN, Western Wastes (get your CoV faction up so you have the change of scenery) ... bank lots of AAs before you hit 59.

Necro, Shaman, Druid, Mage, would be the first that come to mind to solo all the way.

A Monk can go to 70. I have succwsfully soloed my Monk all the way through, although I only solo him when no group/raid is available, but at any level he could still do Dk Blues.

If you just want to fill in empty time now and again I suppose solo is fine. However, if you want to do that as a way of life, you'd end up with gear that was pretty much garbage - compared to group/raid gear. But who would you talk to and joke with? On the plus side, HoT & Speed elixirs, DS elixirs and Gate potions along with the typical Buff set (KEI is a nice junk buff ) make it possible for anyone to solo now, it would just be agonizingly slow for many classes.

You could solo a bard to 70 but I can't imagine you'd enjoy it much. I've always been able to solo but, at high levels, most mobs have so many hitpoints that it becomes a chore to do it for experience. I mostly solo my bard for farming, loot or just to try to kill a particular mob.

The point in which the game becomes unsoloable depends on a lot. Your class, obviously. Your level of gear. Your skill in the class. And what you're willing to accept as downtime. I could potentially take down low, low dark blue mobs with my rogue but I'd be resting for 15min per kill which I don't find acceptable.

Not only did I solo to 70.. but I also drug to 70 my bots Cachet (Enchanter), Aumndyer (Cleric) and last night Isladar (Mage.. took me 3 nights 69-->70).

Of the three, Isladar provides some DPS.. but Aumnyder I just sat in the zone with me.. cleric nuking and "pet" DPS makes Baby Jeebus cry.

With the fifth account, Wizard, I learned to quad and I believe I could solo to 70 (although the temptation to twitch her is great.. so much less down time).

Beastlod seems to be underrated in this thread. They can easily solo to level 70 and go almost to any zone they wish.

Necros are by far the best solo xp'ers followwed by wizzie and beastlords.

EQ really isnt a solo game. Although like you I enjoy my yime alone the game really isnt setup for it. Also xp soloing regardless of class really slows in comparison to groups in the mid 50's.

Good Luck.

Is it really solo'ing if you're multi boxing?

Bards, Beastlords, Chanters, Druids, Mages, Necros, Rangers, Shaman, SKs, and Wizards could all solo to 70..........but it wouldn't be fun

A fine question. No.

But let me elaborate. I soloed myself (on self buffs) to 70 before I had any boxes.

I then, already 70, made Cachet my enchanter and leveled her from 1-70. Most of the 46+ work I kited with her standing there doing nothing. As I got better at multiboxing, I nuked. And not much.. her gear was crap and I did not have much Flowing Thought beyond Tranquility.

So, I would argue that it was harder than soloing, leveling her to 70 while I did all the work and she stood there.

The Mage, is piling on. I am now pretty confident in my mutliboxing (doing DoDH spell missions where I am all the healing, all the slowing and CC, and Felicite) and his DPS was most certainly helping me when I doued with the Mage to 70 (the fights were shorter than truly solo).

But.. to focus on me, really solo (and self buffed).

And Cachet and Aum.. *almost entirely passive* dou with me to 70.

Good catch.

I play a cleric and can solo eairier at 70 then I did at 60. Point being any class can be soloed if you want the put the time into it. However EQ was designed and remains a game that is supposed to use group dynamics.

Can you solo to 70? yes but why.

It is my opinion that if it is all about lv and pure solo you could take almost any toon to 70 solo. It might take a year of seriouus play to get a warrior there but it would be doable. but you will miss so much of the game.

Being a good soloer has a tendancy to ill prepare you for being a leader. Once I stopped relying on others for a group "LFG" and started makeing my own groups the prob with groups went away. Also useing the resources of fourms like these to know what content might be attracvtive to other classes makes it easy to group.

In my high 30's-low 40's I could always get a cleric to go to gunthak for there Temp spell or drag a caster out to get there lv whatever spell that dropped wherever Just by looking up what class needed a spell that dropped where I wanted to go If you take a little time to be a resource to all those in game that don't have the time or inclination to get the info for themselves.

As a ranger you could solo to 70 but it'd be slow and tedious after 50 or so. If you want to get there the fastest way go with Necro the other good solo classes are mage, wizzy, shammy, dru, and bst. Sence you chose ranger you'd prob like beastlord the best because it's realy the only other hybrid close to a ranger. If you chose dru you can solo the most kind of ways sence they can dot, nuke, charm, root/snare, and have some pretty good buffs. But you'd probibly want to go with bst the only big disatvantage they have in any situation is that they have no gate, but if you learn to work your warder right it'll be no prob.

any pure melee class would probably be near impossible to solo to 70

A Ranger can solo at 70 (albeit slowly and painfully) but I seriously doubt could "solo to 70".

The difference being the level of armor and weaponry that is needed.

Bazaar bought gear just will not cut it, I doubt even if you spent hundreds of real dollars and bought the stupidly over priced crafted items with augs, that you would be able to assemble the needed combination of AC, HP and Focus effects.

Although, the introduction of the new potions (heal/clar/etc etc) can help, maybe if you are super patient, you may find a way. But I suspect that sooner or later you would hit the equipment barrier and have to do DoN and DoD missions to at least get basic gear for the higher levels.

Regularly soloing DoN and higher mobs unslowed in bazaar gear would be very difficult for a ranger, if not impossible.

Although now that I think about it, some PoP mobs will give you enough exp to level to 70 and could be soloed. Might take the rest of your life to get there though. Smiley: smile

I dunno about that......

I had a friend who made and soloed an SK to 65 and then to 70(when OOW came out) just to prove to someone that you could solo a SK to max lvl

couldn't you bow kite to 70?

Yes, quite likely, but you'd be kiting light blue mobs for the most part, hence the "rest of your life" comment. Smiley: smile
