Please help update thisFollow

Iksar me starts off okay in Cabilis (obviously) Thurgadin, Shar Val and Shadowhaven.

1. Became a citizen of Shar Val and did a bunch of quests so I am amiable to warmly with nearly everyone in there.

2. Did the Amulet of the Haven Quest to get the merhants to like me in Shadowhaven.

3. Killing giants works wonders on the Coldain loving me in Thurgadin.

*Those are all given since they let me in to begin with.

4. The Warrens is one of my favourite places so committing Kobald Genocide was not as tedious for me as it would be for some. I also did the "Azzur's Dreadful Cap" quest a few times which raised my Heretics and lowered my good erudite factions. I have my key to the Hole and am fine to walk through Paineel it seems. I think worshipping Cazic Thule made this less of a job than it could be.

5. My next goal was the Overthere outpost. I had to use troll/ogre/dark elf illusion potions to be able to turn in sarnak braids. 200ish braids later I can sit by the cliff golem (and use my Worker's Sledgemallet).

The following cities are my targets, those not mentioned I would prefer not to lower, but I am Iksar so can be hated more I suppose.
Am I making anything really hard on myself as an iksar beast pursuing this (i.e., messing up a worthwhile high-level quest)?


Rivervale -one of my favourite towns and is in my travel routes. Have started killing Runnyeye but it only builds guard faction and occasionally druid. Every quest I checked lowered Neriak factions. So far I have not done anything to make Neriak hate me more... and have slight raised Dreadguard Inner and Outer with quests.

Katta Castellum -my favourite city in the game.

The rest are up for grabs. If killing neriak factions does me no harm and gets me 2-3 more safe cities then maybe I should do that. From what I have looked up the "fast" route tends to lower something else (i.e., most quests that you can buy stuff to turn in).

For an Iksar you may have different motivations. My Iksar monk originally wanted to do Human Monk quests the old fashioned way so I could outline how I got Freeport, and Qeynos. If your desire is to be able to walk around EVERYWHERE well that is a daunting task.

Easiest by far is Paineel. Just one faction, they all worship Cazic Thule. Kill lots and lots of Kobolds in the Warrens (or Stonebrunt).

Qeynos: You can get good Guards and Monks off your back by killing gnolls in Qeynos area and Blackburrow. Doubt the Pallys/Cleric or Bards will like you. Have no clue about the casters there either. You also have to worry about the corrupt guards. My monk could sneak and thus do turn-ins of 5pg at a time to Guard Shilster in North Karana to raise faction.

Freeport is a little more complicated hehe.
1. Kill orcs/gnolls in Highpass til not KoS to highpass guards.
2. Turn in orc scalps til non KoS to Freeport militia

North Freeport/Monks kill orcs in Commonlands/Nektulos/Misty

If you want to walk around Faydwer Cities, good luck, personally I think that's a bit insane. Also Neriak would be daunting but I know ways to do that.

Give me a location and I can get you started and what to look out for, if you want to walk non KoS everywhere, it may take awhile...

As an Iksar you are KoS to Katta. My Iksar Beastlord is attempting to get faction there (mostly as a challenge). Right now I am looked at threateningly. My main route has been killing the Seru guards in Netherbian and Marus Seru. Sanctus Serus are too tough at the moment.

The other mobs that give Katta factions are Vampyres in Tenebrous Mountains. My Beastlord is not quite able to handle these and there is no place to run and hide if things get out of hand. My Pally can at least run into Katta.

I should say you will ruin Seru Factions, but those are so screwy anyway.

Most high-level quests in vogue today are factionless to old Norrath.

I am not going to tackle the soul-killing quest of being accepted everywhere as an Iksar. I just want a few choices.

Killing Seru guard types to raise Katta? I accept, having never liked those smug fellows anyway.

Rivervale would be fun to be welcome in but killing halflings is fun too. Hard choice. I like that it is a city that you go through to get places. I have other non-halfling characters with the quested squad ring and actully like the other faction quests. The trick is being liked enough to even do them.

I would rather not hurt Neriak and may do the wine quest, etc. to raise it up. Same for Grobb.

I don't want to lower Kelethin (for now --am waiting to see if quest falls into place for me). And yes, Kelethin/Neriak opposing factions on so many mobs makes this a challenge (possibly not worth doing?).

I intend to maintain Overthere Outpost, Paineel, Shar Val, Thurgadin and of course Cabilis. The rest can be ignored or sacrificed to build the ones mentioned above.

Skrax Swiftail sent me his faction plan... he deserved and deserves to be legendary.


The utility in acquiring many of the old factions was erased by PoK (i.e., like wanting to be able to bank on a continent where you were bound). All the responses to this thread have given me much to think about. Thanks again.
