Bad night in EQ - grrrrrr!Follow

Morning Everyone,

Logged onto my newbie zerker and was exp'ing around Crystal Caverns having a good time when I jumped to get over a wall and got stuck.

I couldn't jump, move, or anything. Typed /rewind but had been stuck for too long. Therefore I had to petition a GM which is a first time for me. Waited a bit and nothing so I got frustrated and logged.

Decided that it was time to dust off my main (55 chanter) whose corpse I had left to rot after a particularly bad grouping experience in DS. Logged him on and didn't notice the message "you have a corpse present in Shadowrest." This was a bit strange since it has been about 3 weeks since I left him to become for food for worms. I hailed the corpse guy and he wouldn't let me into Shadowrest. Hmmmmm.

Went to Guild hall and spent 100plat on a soulstone, gave it to the corpse summoner, and no corpse!!! What the heck is going wrong??? And, of course, I couldn't petition because I already petitioned for my stuck Zerker earlier on. AAAARGH!!!!

Bub

P.S. Presently wondering what WOW has to offer.....

why the hell didn't you summon the body on your main there and then????

As for WoW, great graphics, great low end game, no high end game, no longevity.

When you get a character stuck, you can log out of the game, and join the #stuckcharacter chat channel at the log in screen. That is usually the best place to get this sort of issue resolved.

Did you follow along with the text from the Shadowhaven Emmisary? There is a few things that you have to say in order to zone in there.

Once a corpse goes to Shadowhaven, it cannot be rezzed, nor can it be summoned to the summoning altar.

Yes, my son was trying to get to Shadowrest to retrieve a character of his that I had killed off (oops).

It took us both going "?huh?" for a couple minutes before he discovered that you just say "travel" but cannot add the "to shadowrest" part on.

So yes, I'd say keep the soulstone to use another time and chat a bit more with Devin about letting you into Shadowrest.

Stuck characters are usually addressed pretty quickly by GM's, but another route to avoid SOE CS altogether is to find a druid or wiz to try and port you out of the stuck spot. My Wizzy TL's stuck peeps out of the toon-eating tree in PoK all the time.

Just wanted to add that corpses can be rezzed in Shadowrest as long as there is still a rez timer still on the body.
#6 Jan 05 2006 at 9:44 AM Rating: Good
corpses don't go to shadowrest until 7 days...except for a cleric rezzing his own corpse, there shouldn't be a rez timer on the body...can you explain to me a way there could be?

Maybe if someone died and didn't log in for over a week.

Hard to imagine, I know. Smiley: wink

the corpse timer counts down even if you are logged off.

If your stuck character has been logged off for at least 6 hours, then instead of hitting enter world to log him on, hit return home. You'll log in to your hometown instead of where you camped at.

Ditto what Gaming Maven said. Just camp out and log in 6 hours later. This tactic is also good when you get left behind in places like the hole and or some of the more hard to reach zones.
Or the stuck character channel as Frakkor suggested.
Myself I first try to camp out and camp back in.

Those Aude Sapere people really know how the game can work.

The corpse timer does, but the rez timer doesn't count down if you're logged off unless I'm mistaken.

Which I rarely am. Smiley: grin

in my experience the rez timer still counts down.

we'll test it tonight...you die with an alt, then log off for 3 hours, I'll try to rez you.

5pp on the wager?

The 7 day corpse rotting (now corpse goes to Shadowrest) timer runs all the time.

The 3 hour (?.. I always see "2 hours and some minutes") rez timer DOES NOT run if you log off.

Many a time I have waited until the morning to rez myself.

I'm actually pretty sure Kakar is right. But you have to be logged out of the account, not just the character. If I die and log in an alt (even on another server) and play for three hours, I'm SOL. If I log out and play Tetris until the evening, my rez timer should be intact.

/nod

Which hardly anyone does, as most folks have a trader toon they log on when they aren't playing.

I'd take you up on your wager Frak, but that would mean I'd have to log completely out of EQ for a whole 3 hours. I don't know if I could handle the withdrawl, and my PC might self destruct from pure confusion.

Yes.. the account.. even at the "character select screen" is logged in and the rez timer runs.

I am on FV.. alt = new account by definition.

Sorry.. good point.
