Hello this is just a quetion i had the other night no one could answer. I play a wizzy so every body wants me to port them every were this time a raid wanted me to port them to plane of sky my question was if a person im porting is not in the zone do they port or do they need to be in the zone with me????

they obviously have to be in the zone since you need to target them. I believe the spell also has a range that needs to be thought about.

Yes, if porting a group, all members need to be in zone and within range (think nuke casting distance). Plane of Sky port is a level 46 spell???

Seems by level 46 a wiz would have a clue. Smiley: confused

As a wizard, you have two types of port spells: Translocate (a.k.a. TL) and group port spells.

To use a TL spell, you have to be able to target the person and they must be in range. So yes, they have to be in the same zone and relatively close to you. The TL spell will send that person to the new zone, but you will remain in the current zone. (Note: The is a "mass" version of some TL spells, and this will send everyone within range to the new zone with a single cast). Also, the recipient of the TL spell will get a confirmation box asking if they want to go to said zone.

To use your group port spells, everyone that is part of your group and fairly close to you will be sent to the new zone, including you. There is no confirmation box in this case. Also, rarely, someone in the group may be left behind.

Somehow I feel an argument coming...

I beg to differ on one small aspect of the above statement.

My druid group ports have NEVER left anyone behind (unless they were dueling or not in range). If it is possible, it is VERY VERY rare.

Evacs can leave people behind. These are all spells with the word 'Succor' in them. This has rarely happened to me, but once I was left behind!

Unless Wizzy group ports are different...

There is only a port spell to PoSky - no TL, no gate, no evac.

The term 'succor' is a druid one. Wizzy's don't succor (it's considered crass) they evac. Some Wiz ports are actually evac spells - skyfire and emerald jungle specifically, so they may indeed leave a member behind.

But like Dot said I don't recall ever missing someone on a true 'port' unless they were out of range (watch the Rangers, they're always running out of range!!!).

...and yes Druid's succor leave behind poor defenseless wizzes to be bashed down by 4 dragons. Smiley: frown

Crass? Oh well, at least my crass spell got me and the two tanks out of harms way muahahaha...poor lil wizzy get interrupted?

What was funny was I had Egress loaded, switched out for Succor and still got it off in time...I find it helps to stand near the one generating the aggro to avoid being hit...those stand-off-ish wizards? well...Smiley: wink

I just saw everyone's names go dark, looked up and had 3 dragon types and some other monster on top of me. Hit my decession, got interrupted, then was dead.

Oh, which reminds me, decession = single player evac.

For bonus points.. when someone is protected by Divine Aura they cannot be ported.

So, as soon as you see the Druid or Wizard start a group portal, toss "Bestow Divine Aura" (Cleric AA) on them. That way everyone in the group gets ported.. cept the porter.

Fun fun.

When we were mini-mights, camping TEH WH33L! in Gunthak (Gunthak beach) level 25-ish group, two people decided it would be fun to duel after we were done. I announced port and headed off just as the duelers pulled a big train with their antics. Duelers were left behind. I guess the 2nd one to die won the duel...
