Best Class for partner of PallyFollow

Im giving EQ to a friend for XMAS so we can group together. (Im a newbie and soloing gets boring-not just because its hard, but its lonely) I play a dwarf paladin (ill tank) He wants to play a ranger (WOODELF) is this a good duo

I would have to agree that a shammy is a good idea. Maybe a beasty would be nice too. But then again, a sk and a pally grouping together might be kinda cool. Use your imagination. The more I think about it, a pally and a sk duo team would be kind of cool.

I'd let him play whatever he wants. You're trying to get him interested in the game and telling him "Ok, you have to play a shaman" isn't the best bet if he's dreaming of himself as a ranger. Is Paladin/Ranger the best combo? Not really. But it's good enough to get you into the 50+ game if you wanted. Well before then he'll be looking to experiment with alts and try a caster, a priest, a tank, etc and you guys will find a duo combo that works for you and fits both your styles.
