How many of you out there know what Health of Target's Target is? I group with SOOO many people that have never heard of it before and if I didn't start the group it is like pulling teeth to get them to make me the group leader so that we can use my leadership abilities.

I know, this is kind of a redundant question and maybe more of a rant, but maybe I can educate a few people. HoTT is a GREAT skill that allows you to see who your target currently has targeted and what their hitpoints are at. Example, I am a warrior so I am tanking. My wife is a cleric so she prety much keeps me targeted. With HoTT she can keep me targeted and at the same time keep up with how much life the mob we are fighting has left. This allows her to easily decide whether to complete heal me or heal over time based on how soon the mob will be dead. As the tank, if (Karana forbid) I lose aggro I see exactly who the mob now has targeted which can help me get where I need to be to get aggro back quickly.

So for those who have not seen this before you may be asking "how do I get this to work?" First you must be grouped with a group leader who has purchased this skill via the leadership abilities. If I remember correct these came out with GoD (or maybe OoW). You can press the "L" key to bring up the leadership ability window. Click on "Health of Target's Target" and click the "Make Hotkey" button. Put this new button in a button window and whenever you are grouped with a group leader that has purchased this skill you will be able to activate it.

There are several other leadership abilities as well. One great one is "spell awareness". As a tank this ability allows me to easily see what spells my group mates are casting, such as the shaman casting slow so I can be ready for that quick taunt. It also lets me know what spells the mobs are casting, such as heal, so I know when to try to stun to intterupt.

If you want to earn these abilities yourself click "L" and the "on" button. Then, make a group with you as leader (group must be at least 3 toons) and you will start to earn leadership experience. When you have enough points you will be able to purchase the skills.

For those of you who know all this, sorry to have wasted your time. Hopefully a few of you have learned something new that will help you enjoy your EQ experience more.

I agree, HoTT is clutch. If I ever save up enough points for it that will be my first Leadership point.

Unfortunately, I'm not much of a leader so that may never happen.

I agree, love it. The other one I love is the numbered mobs, so I know what order to cast slow on mezzed mobs, which mob will be the next up to bat so to speak.

I like having someone with leadership skills be leader.

On a side note Hott is a pullers freind on those rare meetings when 2 groups are close to each other it Identifies free mobs and tells you who and when someone steals your pull. Also lets you know the sec a mobs spots the puller weather the mobs starts casting or just trying to bring you in closer before comming after you. Being an SK it lets me know the instant to start recalling my pet when pet pulling. Cant say enough about it

I LOVE the findpc leader skill. I hardly ever get lost when grouping with our uber-tank who was it.

Thanks again Fort. Smiley: wink

Other than Inspect buffs, I love all the Leadership skills.

Also keep in mind you keep all your leadership skills when you do a MM or when you shroud. Extra Attack, HP, MANA, Regen, and such can help a lot on those nicly balanced MMs =D

I have three leadership items on my cleric.
1. PC health
2. Mark Main Assist
3. Health of Target's Target.

I went for HoTT and it is very nice to have. I especially like bein able to hold CHeal and have it land just as the mob expires (when that is possible of course).

If I am in a group where the leader does not have HoTT, I usually beg for leadership hehe...

I almost threw a fit at one of my guild's raids because the leaders wanted some tank who was not in our guild to lead my group. He had ZERO leadership skills and wanted to 'work on it'. Who the hell works leadership on a raid in hopes of getting something out of it?

It didn't help that the group cleric and myself have all leadership skills and have them all nearly maxed. Honestly, all this guy needed was HoTT and I wouldn't even care about the rest.

I decided to suck it up this time, but I better see this guy tanking something awesome for me or my guildmates someday. And he better have HoTT by then, heh.

It depends on raid I would say sure there are other things besdies hott that are advantageous but as a raid moving forward it can make since to have more people get the group version of hott by having someone who doesnt have it take group leadership on a raid. Stipulation on this is that Raidleader must have HoTT otherwise its pointless for any of the clerics/healers in todays EQ to not have it as it makes things so much easier.

As to why you or your Raidleader would want someone not in your guild/alliance to get LAAs over someone who is I dunno.

make a hotkey that tells the group the lowdown on why you should be leader. It'll make it one percent less annoying.

I'm shocked more aren't into leadership points for the bonuses... +50 ATK... c'mon, you know peeps would pay serious plat for that.

But they can have it so easy.

What's the other one, +100 HP?

Thumbs up !
The people who know what this handly little perk does look for the leader and ask for the leader to be changed all the time to the person who has it.
I am not quite sure but it also may depend on what UI they use at the time. Some UI's have it built in to the system but only show the HoTT when activated. The default UI ???

Amen to that. Well, this is what I used to think, anyhow. After realizing just how long it took to earn them, compared to AA's, I started to reconsider. (I did, in the end, still go with Leadership).

Keep in mind +100 HP is at a cost of.. 15 Leaderships, right? +50 Attack is.. 25-ish, or more? (It's 5 ranks of it.. the initial one is 5.. I can't remember if the price increases or not).

So, yeah, they're great. Just, when you sit down and look at it, for people more interested in quests, equipment, AA's, or other such things, Leadership's something that can take a step back.. especially when they can still enjoy the benifits by just being in a group with someone who's put all that experience into it.

This is a great boon to a group if the leader has it. As a tank it is great to know when the mob has me targeted before breaking a mez.

One thing brought up at the developer's brunch during Fan Faire was the quandry of others being able to get leadership when someone in a group already has the points. It is not to the groups benefit to give leadership to someone who needs points versus someone who has them. In turn many times it is hard for someone who needs and wants them to get them.

There was some hint that they were considering that group leaders who were maxed on leadership points could assign a transfer of point accumulation to a second party without losing the abilities a group leader was using. Makes sense to me as a leader who is maxed doesn't need to earn any more, but someone else in the group could without losing the perks of the leader. Anyway time will tell.

A mezzed mob NEVER changes it target while mezzed. If it is aggroed on a cleric when mezzed, you can taunt and incite, or stun, or what ever aggro spell is called for SK untill the cows come home, The clerics name will Still be in the HoTT box. You will have aggro but you cant see it till mezz drops.

IF your name is in the HoTT as a tank, that means you had aggro when the mob was mezzed. After they are mezzed I Tash and slow, which will normally put me slightly higher on the hate list than your normal assist hate. But you will still be in the HoTT box.

In closing, when you walk up to a mezzed mob that has a tanks name in HoTT, PLEASE treat it like it has the cleric or Chanter targeted.

Sorry but I have seen a mezzed target change targets. The mezz may well have drop but the mob isn't attacking so I assumed the mezz hadn't dropped. Perhaps not so, but target's do change.

I agree, no tank should ever assume just because a name is in the target bar it is going to stay there, holding aggro is an ongoing action. There is a routine to ensure aggro doesn't jump back to the toon who originally mezzed, and though it isn't completely fool proof it generally works fine. I think most tanks realize you don't simply walk up to a mezzed mob and tag it.

Wow this is an old post of mine someone drug up from the past! Just a tip for those of you who would like to have the skills but feel the exp loss from it is too hard to stomach I have found that the best time to get leadership exp is on a raid. If you can be a group leader on a raid turn on the leadership exp and watch it fly. I don't know why but it seems the exp in a raid is the same as in single grouping for me per kill. Regular exp or AA exp are not much good on a raid so might as well be getting some usable exp during this time.

If you have a lower level toon I'd recommend starting leadership experience as low as possible. I started in mid 30's and never really noticed it hurting my exp till I got over 65. I had most all of them I wanted by then and now only turn it on when raiding.

I am not sure what you saw happen, or what state teh mob is in, I am simply telling you, that you did not see a mezzed mob (or stuned one for that matter) change targets. It can not happen.

If you see a mob change targets it is NOT mezzed, or stunned.
