I played a Monk in Everquest and was the main puller most of the time.

I am married with a child now and quite often, I would get a group set up in Riftseekers or some other place, pull 2 mobs, and have to log off for real life reasons.

It takes a long time and alot of work to go from Log in to full group set up at camp to first pull in Riftseekers.

I quit Everquest when I realized it was not a game I could just jump into for some unstressful entertainment.

Finally get your RL buddies on at the same time to go have some fun. Log your main and head for the Guild Hall door. Boom. LD. Big message, you know--the one you've seen about 782 times already stating that an error message has been sent to SOE so that they can try to fix the problem. Log back on. Logged too soon. Get message about having more than one toon on at a time. Log back out. Wait a few. Log back in again. Sorry, only one toon at a time please. Log back off. Log back on after waiting a little while longer. RL's are in full group now. Too bad.

Every time I try to form my own group there are either no tanks or slowers and no clerics so I am forced to heal especially when its a zone like nest, dod progression, or RS.

Rangers, clerics, and necros are always the first to die.

There's always one really bad player at an important group role when u try to do something hard in a pickup group. Like when we had a monk puller in a nest mission that did not know how to fd pull.

When forming groups there are always a million afk people on /lfg.

Usually when I get an invite to a group when I get there either a slower or tank will not be in the group and it will take a long time to get one.

As soon I axcept a group with my cleric you can expect a raid to be called within 10 minutes.

90% of deaths I have seem to be one are two kill away from me dinging a AA point with vet exp reward being up as well about half the time.
#35 Dec 01 2005 at 12:15 AM Rating: Good
This is totally annoying to me. A good group running for maybe 2hrs. Everyones on point no deaths, hardly any downtime. Cleric says hes leaving so he finds a replacement. 1 of 2 things happens. At first pull the healer screws up and every1 dies and then everyone has something else to do OR everyone else forgets how to play and everyone dies.
Another constant. You solo for hours on hours for good xp. You just leveled 3 times 5aa your going woowoo and someone asks for your help. You being a good friend go to help and end up dieing more times than you care to mention(why is this always on a duo when doing phinny*sigh*).
This is a wierd one. You hit on a female toon. You get along. You sit in bot /telling sweet /tells to her. You find out 1 of 2 things. Shes married OR shes a heman....*sighs*

An "EQ absolute" that happens to me: I zone into the PoK right as a buff I need is MGBed. On the nice side, there is a 'chanter or cleric that is happy to see my donation.

another absolute is making gate potions and having them for sale over night to come back the next morning and have someone selling them for crazy low prices to ruin my hope of making some profit

All time favorite is advertiseing for 5 min that there will be an MGB Kei at main bank and 2 seconds after you cast it someone shouts looking for Kei.

It is always the tanks fault... When groups are looking for a tank the first question is always what is your HP/AC? When was the last time you went looking for a cleric and asked what is you mana pool and regen rate? When did you ever ask a slower if they had the right level spells for the content? This is how you end up with a group wipe in MPG when the tank drops.. sometimes it is because the tank has 1300AC and 7k hps.. but sometimes it is because the Cleric that snuck in has a 4k mana pool... either way..... BAD TANK

This brings up an interesting point. Just like in real life the majority of players are not uber. SO ther eare the top say 1% that have 2k ac and 12k hp's so you only want that kind of tank. Well that leaves the rest of them out in the cold with no opportunity to better themselves. Cleric with 4k mana And warriors with 1300 AC need some loving too! or... maybe the content isnt' tailored to fit the general populus?

There are always a million people in completely unskilled positions (Rogue Cleric Wizard Druid Mage Beastlord) Who think they know how to do your skilled job better (Paladin Bard Monk Chanter Shadowknight)

Do you mean those classes do not require skill to play or just people who happen to be unskilled playing those classes telling you how to play your class?

Hard to say any class is 'unskilled' without getting an argument.

I will agree, I do not like having someone playing a tank/caster telling the cleric how to heal. I would not say the tank or caster is unskilled though.

Major pain constant:

Zone into POK, OOC "donating for KEI/Virtue. PST if want privacy." Wait and sell vendor trash. Waiting 3 min.. Put good selling stuff in bank for trader to get... Waiting 5 min.. sigh.. /w ench.. none above level 50 in PoK. Pull out clarity potion, drink.. load spell to port to next spot to hunt. Smiley: ducttape

"MGB KEI at Nexus in 5 min", as you cast your port spell. /duck. /sigh. /run to nexus and sit some more. Smiley: motz

BTW, Baron. Personally, I play a druid, chanter, pally and beastlord. I consider all classes as skilled. Matter of fact, if someone does not know what they are doing, it usually shows in the first 5 min of pulling. If someone has an issue when I tell them they have a hole in their defence or offensive thinking, they may find that they are quickly summoning thier corpse to the guild lobby. OH sorry man.. was busy healing the other guys in the group that you were not protecting. OR, sorry man, was busy nuking the MOB you let loose in camp because you could not slow/mez/tank it. Will get right back to you when we get someone here who has mana/can rez you. OH BTW, if they listen, they usually require less maintenance keeping them and rest of us alive also.

Wow, this has to be the most thoughtful post I have ever read! I can agree with not telling other classes how to play their toons, unless they are being complete fools, but come on.

Let me guess, you must play a Paladin, Bard, Monk, Chanter, and Shadow Knight? Therefore any class that YOU don't play must be some easy, unskilled, free-loading position that's just a burden on your skilled, hard-working shoulders? Is that how it is?

I personally only play casting classes. Do I run around and talk bad about melee classes? No. Do I talk down idiots that make sweeping generalizations on forums without any facts, or even logical thought to back up the garbage they are posting? Yes.

From a Druid's perspective I find myself having to adapt to many roles depending on the group and situation. Let's see I can main heal, crowd control, pull, choose when to evac the group from a unwinable situation, and even sit back, relax, and DPS sometimes.

If that's your idea of "unskilled" you probably just started on some ebay toons and have not figured out how the game works, or you're still in Paludal Caverns and making your observations about level 20ish characters.

Anyone with a computer and a subscription can play any class they like. It take lots of experience playing a toon to play it in a "skilled" manner though. All classes take skill to play well, since they all have their strengths, weaknesses, and roles they have to fill to contribute to the group or raid they are in.

I apologize to everyone except Baron for blowing up this post, but I hate to let blatant stupidity ride like that.

Back to the original subject of the thread.. I have a theory on the group wipe that perfectly coincides with the Vet AA lesson. Usually goes something like this:

player 1: "I need a quick med break"
player 2: "please hurry, got lesson running" ***
player 1: "ok, pulling"
player 5 (45 sec or so later): "ADD!"

*** At this point the whole group steps it up a notch or two in order to help player 2 out

This is what any good group would do. It just makes wiping all the more likely since your taking on more mobs much faster.

As for the wipe when you didn't even tell anyone it was running... /shrug Murphy's Law I suppose =)
