Hey, recently I've been a on and off player to EQ, mainly for money reason's, but I am soon to be back in the game. My question is, for all the time I have played EQ, I have never seen or been part of a GM event. How often do they do this, and how do you know if it happens?

GM events seem to be more and more rare. Sometime a server wide message will be displayed (i.e. COME TO LAKE OF ILL OMEN FOR THE FISHING TOURNAMENT), other times you will only find out about it if you are in the zone that it is happening in.

I would suspect that the general chat channels would be a good place to find out about a GM event as it is happening, unfortunatley, they don't seem to happen all that often.

I've seen 3 since I've been back, and I've only been back about a month. So they seem to be happening more often.

Two were PVP tournaments, and one was some n00b event where you rolled a new gnome or something.

About a week after I started playing again I took my druid over to OOT to the Seafury island to knock the rust off of him. While I was there, a GM suddenly showed up and asked if I would like some milk and cookies. I accepted and thanked him and he disapeared. It suprised me as I've rarely even seen any GM's in game lately, even before my break.

There was a GM hutning around the great Divide a few weeks ago. He asked me for help with a velium weapon order that he needed to forage up. Since I was killing giants in the fort, i was happy to oblige. Unfortunately I had to log suddenly when my dog decided to chase the neighbors cat...

Good thing, that cat could have taken the dog, I'm sure of it. That's how cats lure their prey, get some dumb dog to chase them. Smiley: lol

Aye. Actually my dog is too dumb to actually do any damage to the cat. But she loves to corner her on our neighbors deck and bark her head off at it.

Nice 666th post jrmayii!

Unfortunatly, nearly every GM event I've attended has ended stupidly.

Once was a dragon spawn in DL. Word quickly got out and well over 100 toons showed up. After many deaths the dragon was zerged. When the GM attempted to hand out the rewards of rubicite armor the uber guilds got upset that the reward "sucked" and the GM wasted their time and talent and began attacking the GM. After 10 minutes of constantly being attacked and berated he got frustrated and left.

Another was an event in LFay, After organizing a raid of everyone present the actual spawn was killed, the item ninja looted, and that was the end of that.

The last one I was in was a very small one in POK. The GM gave out a riddle for an item he wanted. I managed to find the item and was first to return it to him and was rewarded with a 5 shot illusion potion for each race.

I was leveling my 30 Ranger in the Eastern Wastes and this bunny rabbit starts emoting stuff about how the nasty Orcs took his carrot.

After telling my guild about it and them all thinking I was smoking something I started talking back to the rabiit to see if i could help.

Anyway, after about 30 mins of (does'nt want to spoil the mini-event for others) helping the Bunny he gave my ranger a Ry'gorr shirt. Not uber or anything but appropriate for his class and level.

It put a beaming smile on my face that mini-event did, Was just nice to see a bit of GM involvement.

If I hear word of a GM event I stay clear of the zone(s).

Nothing more annoying than a cut throat show off in EQ.

Also i think some GM events are local server events so some GM might be cooler than other servers GM's i've only seen maybe 5 in all the years i've been playing
