Noticed in the patch message that the drop rate of this was raised to about 10 times as often. While killing Geos in CC, I suddenly found I had a stack of them. Checked in the bazaar (on Povar) just to see a price, and they ranged anywhere from 100 to 750 pp. I imagine this will come down due to increased drop rate....but I'm not even sure what the demand is for? Can someone tell me what these are used for that would make them that expensive?

From the user replies here on Alla's, it looks like they're needed for lvl 66+ DoD spell quests.

It's used in several poison recipes, as well as a research component.

It was the bottleneck on the new Research tradeskill. They lifted the cap to 300, but all recipes beyond 227 trivial require some amount of it.

Since most post 200 tradeskills require 20+ combines per point (and it gets worse near 300), you would need many 1000s of these to get there.

On most servers, vendor diving these was almost impossible. We were managing as a guild to pull in say 5 a day.. so.. in year you might farm enough.

This would be like saying all of the 200+ trivial recipes of tailoring required Silk.. and that silk could drop from any mob in the game, about once every few hours. No specific mob to hunt, just kill them all and you will get one.. now and then.

Look for new Expert Researchers within the week (I know of at least one that was in the Beta and smart enough to stockpile Cyrstallized Sulfur *before* DoDH rolled out).. Masters soon.

Now if they would just fix Crushed Diamond Dust. This item has the same drop problem as the crystallized sulfur and is needed to make the master's cultural armor symbols. It has also been the bane of my existance the last couple of months as I still need 5 more master's augs for my beastlord's armor. They admitted it was a msitake to make it part of the recipe but still have no eta on when they will fix it.
