Hello everyone..I would post this on the main forums but I'm having trouble logging in there..Anyway, I've got a few questions about EQ..I've played it for about 20 minutes like a year after it came out at a friends house but I never bought it..I've played Eq2, FFXI and EQ:OA..But the things I wasn't happy about with Eq2 and FFXI is traveling..Its all a convenience, yes FFXI does take forever to get anywhere but its got too many zoning, I liked EQ:OA because it was vast and I could walk everywhere and it felt like an actual adventure and felt like I accomplished something..Anyway, to my questions..Sorry if these have been answered..I just wanted to post :p

1)Is it still populated..Are there still alot of people on at the lowbie zones other than alts and people just passing through, you know what I mean..

2)Well, thats the only real question I have..The paragraph wasted my brain..But I hope that any of you could elaborate more on everything you like about the game and why you still play..Thank you :). No flaming please.

ATM not many are really going into the lowbie zones of old. Hopefully some of the new task mixed with new players will get them rolling again.

Lowbie zones are deserted. The vast majority of the EQ population is level 60+.

Traveling in eq is nothing like it was when you played. With the addition of the plane of Knowledge most places are a click away. Also the ships no longer sail you now get insta-ported by a magus standing on the docks.

However you do not have to avail yourself of the insta click travel you can still run across 5 zopnes if you so desire.

well, lowbie zones might be deserted, but this shouldn't bother you.

there are different way of finding other people to group with these days.
- a good "looking for group" tool
- a tutorial, where ALL newbies start out (evil, neutral and good alike)
- most of the players still suffer from alteritis
- people can use shrouds now (enabling a e.g. lvl 70 to group with a lvl 20)
- there still are guilds
- use the general chat channels

I never had problems finding a group within a reasonable timeframe. but then I always picked a class which can solo quite well if needs be.

have fun :)

With the new tutorial you can get up to lvl 10 I believe (never done it), so that means very few folks in the old newbie zones. The tutorial is very fast lvling from what I've heard.

Once you get to 30 or so, there is an incredible amount of things you can do. There is a tremendous amount of upper game content. I think there are over 200 zones now and it seems about 2/3 can be utilized by level 50 and over. There are about 100 zones 60+, so once you get out of "newbiedom" there's lots to do.

Not as much pressure to build an alt imo, since you can get a shroud for other classes to try out.

Lowbie zones aren't completely deserted on Quellious server.

I've started a couple of new toons recently and have never had LFG up for very long, albeit one of them being a cleric. Smiley: wink

The new tutorial makes it possible to lvl up to 12ish, and is incredibly different, and quite fun!

After that, many go to FoB, and CB... then up to Paludal to 24ish, then NL, then DSP.

Good luck. =)
