Sadly, I clicked on "defunct" although that isn't 100% correct. But it is about as close as any up there.

I've been a member of the Spirits of Fire for over 4 & 1/2 years and the guild has gone through several ups and downs. Unfortunately, the last year has taken us about as far down as you can go and I doubt that we will ever be back up again. It's just a matter of time before the last of us long-time members leaves.

We got hit hard by two things: 1) the release of EQ2 and WoW last fall and the decision of SOE to allow players to transfer characters to other servers INTACT . Many of our members were from England and the European continent. And when the exodus to EQ2 and WoW started it left us in a difficult position, as we were just about to tackle the "elemental" planes. With our reduced numbers it was often difficult to even get a full raid force together on a weekend.

Some of the Euros transferred to one of the Bayle servers and quickly got tagged into raiding guilds. They told their friends and soon there were almost no Euros left in SoF. That, in turn, caused some of the American players to seek out new guilds that were raiding more frequently. And in one year we have gone from a guild with 268 tagged 'toons (and probably about 150 to 175 individuals) to 100 tagged 'toons, more then half of which haven't even logged in in the past 90 days and the remainder belonging to no more then a dozen or so players.

For now I'll stay in SoF, if for no other reason then the sentimentality. But I'll probably start looking around for something else soon. It's not really much fun to log on in the evening and not even have anyone else to talk to. :(

On Povar, there's a raid organization called the Ring of Steel that does PoP raids, and I'm sure they do Elementals as well (mostly to back-flag new members, but anybody is welcome to go). Perhaps there's something similar on your server?

If not, you can always start looking around for a new guild and let your remaining members be absorbed. At least 3 of our regular members (we're a small family guild) came from another guild that disbanded shortly after, and they've fit right in. The key is to find a guild that has similar goals as you do, and is at about the same place in progression.

Either way, good luck, and keep us posted.
