In Everquest, of course.

I plan on grinding exp in the Hole. I have got a pretty good system and have a good idea what to expect. Exp is good there, just getting a little boring. Loam Encrusted drops make good tribute turn-ins!

Also loaded up on potions for my potion belt. I will now own the entire zone at level 53. Muhahahahahahahahaha (gasp) hahahaha!!!

Whats everybody planning on doing this weekend in EQ1??

Well, I just came back to EQ and started fresh on Maelin with a beastlord. He's 29 atm and still wearing mostly newbie gear..doh. So I plan on hitting 30 then taking a break to do some farming and catching up on lacking spell skills.

Going to hit Abysmal to do the tradeskill freebies as well.

I'll likely log on and solo a bit in Dulak before I find a group, then grind a few hours. If there's enough people on in the guild, we'll probably try to take down the final epic target for one of our druids, or maybe an epic target for one of the clerics.

After that, we'll drink Spiced Rum in the hot tub in the Guild Hall and celebrate the weekend!

I am finally going to get some time to play tonight!

I'm hoping to avoid MM's and do some real grouping!
#7 Oct 14 2005 at 10:17 AM Rating: Decent
I'll probably either do some creator missions or monster missions.

I loved the Hole when I was leveling my monk, cleric and wiz. Here are a few tips, nothing that you can't get from other sources, but anyway:

1. You'll either need someone with a key or a way to shrink to get into the zone. The zone-in is safe, but the first hallway has static elemental pops, with one or two wanderers that path close to pool (near zone in) then back down towards pit. Paci sticks on elementals pretty well, and is a must for single pulling if you are soloing.
EDIT: Calm works at this mob lvl as well as Paci, but you get the picture.

2. Dismiss summoned (37 lvl?) will work on the elementals, but not on any of the "construct" mobs in the zone. At 47, you'll get Expel summoned, which is nice for soloing in the entry as a cleric.

3. The constructs in the zone have high resists, especially for most of your magic based spells... you should be able to land spells on the elementals and, later, the ghosts in the zone without a lot of resists.

4. As I recall, the only casters you'll encounter near the entry will be the Crusader elementals, which can pop in any of the elemental locations. They CH and also have a fast casting pain-in-the-*** heal. Stun, bash and nuke these aggressively.

5. As a 46 Cleric, I'd stick with soloing elementals at the zone-in before the first pit. If you are grouped w/similar levels, you can try the massive contructs in the pit below. The massive constructs single pull without the need for any paci, but again will resist your magic-based nukes a large % of the time, so grouping is a must for them. With CH and your celestial healing HOT you can easily support higher lvl groups fighting further into the zone.

6. Speaking of the pit, if you fall in, or go down the ramp past the "break," you'll have to gate out or face the long, convoluted walk up through the mob-laden "castle" to get back up to the zone-in level.

7. Most importantly, the loot! If you get a loam encrusted robe, it's great for twinking caster alts, but also sells for 1k easily in the baz - other loam encrusted is so-so. Crystallized sulfur also does well (I sold stacks of it before I realized they went for hundreds of pp each in baz - currently around 700pp on Prexus). Other tradeskill stuff drops from the elementals (drop of mercury, russet oxide), and an occasional lesser gem will turn up. The massive constructs in the pit will on rare occasion drop imbued granite spaulders, again for twinkage or bazaar.

Hope this helps and good luck!

I'll most likely be helping with an epic or 3 tonight. Pre/Post-game will be spent with my n00b shammy in Mistmore. I started in there last night and was loving it, just like the old days. Only no one was there to train me, so I was able to fight near the zone in without the usual paranoia.

It's been awhile but I'm pretty sure you need the key you get off the constructs farther in to be able to get out thru the castle. There are some locked doors in there.

You do not need a key to get out. I've been through there many times on many toons. If you don't want to fight your way out you'll need invis.

Good point on the invis. The elementals and massive constructs do not see invis, but the destroyed constructs past the pond (see invis line) below the castle/first pit do.

Yeah,

I learned to leave the huge pit guys (golems) alone. They like to summon and you don't have a long enough time to make it back to the zone line when your pet is getting beat down and you have no mana left. I have almost made it a few times and then all of a sudden, I am getting destroyed back in the pit.

Well, went to the hole and had a blast, got wiped on aggro.

The started an expedition before my guild raid. died once.

At the guild raid managed to survive with the monk FD twice on wipes. One on just a bad camp location, helped retrieve the bodies. Then on the named and once again helped to retrieve the bodies. Was interesting and somewhat fun. Was trying to kill War Caller Kaavi.
