Morning everyone,

I am presently grinding my way through the lower 50's.

What were you guys doing at this period in your Everquest career?

Should I start looking for a guild to Raid the planes? Like PoJ?

I am not much into tradeskilling and would like to get involved with the slightly higher end game of Everquest.

Please post some ideas or thoughts on what to do next!

Thanks!

Bub

Not going to find a guild that raids the planes with lower to mid 50's most likely. That is mostly for 60+ folks.

I was still unguilded at this point (joined my guild at lvl 59), and was grinding xp in POI and POV mostly, with the oocasional LDON thrown in.

Start working bit by bit on epic 1.0. Final rewards for some classes are not the best in the world by today's standards, but you will get satisfaction other than the prize when you complete it.

PoJ and PoI groups are decent at this level. For PoV, if you are under 55 and not flagged from a PoJ trial, you can get in 85/15.

Try to snag a group doing a PoJ trial if you can. Best to find a group of 65s doing one with a spot open heh.

While I spent a fair amount of time in Nadox and PoI and PoJ, with the release of DoD, the monster missions are the best relief know for those 50's duldrums. (I HATE haveing a char in the 50's! Too strong for many and not strong enough for many. A bear to get a group...arrrgh the bad old days...)

Oh and dont forget Griegs End. That actually is a good zone for 50's if you have a good cleric and CC / slower.

Best of luck!

The 50s are terribly slow. The only thing to do is if you are guilded is work on your epic otherwise Grind Grind Grind. Don't waste time on AAs. You will have a difficult time finding a raiding guild in your 50s and even if you do you will probably not find yourself as a valuble asset on most raids.

In my 50s I spent allot of time in the Planes and GE
50-52 PoJ, GE
52 - 55 PoI, PoN, GE Gate Group
55 - 60 PoV, PoStorms

I think this is the toughest level range in the game. XP is very slow and groups are difficult to come across. Have faith, as you begin to comfortably flow into the 60s the XP, Groups, and excitement begin to ramp up again.

I am in my 50's. Courtin 59, one yellow from 60. Jonwin is 55, and Winjon 51.
I had my paladins for quite a while in the Crystal Shardwurm caves in GD. Rarely had anyone come bye, with Kei and valor I could usually keep 3 down out of the five. Soloing there I just picked on the front two. Jonwin has also spent time in burning woods, since the shardwurms went LB. Nice mix of undead mobs though a few are LB as well. Poj and valor for groups even POI can work. Basically anywhere you can go for exp.

Courtin has spent a lot of time in ME, GE, Soloing in Skyfire for Cleric Epic :) and anywhere a group would get him. Oh and all 3 spent time in dsp for the lucid shard.

...the 50's...

Lets see, my druid main got his Epic, at 52, on May 4th of this year.

My main is currently 58 with 9 AA's. I split XP, and AA, a lot (I know, I know.) I was probably running 50/50 the whole time.

God, 5 months, at least, to still have 2 levels till 60 to go.

I can't even remember what I was doing a week ago, let alone 5 months ago.

Burning Woods, the Grey (EB neccessary), and lately, I've been spending a LOT of time in Nedaria's Landing, just trying to get the necklace.

You play a chanter don't you?

Chanters in the high 50's are really tough. You not only have to deal with the slow xp, but your mezzing capabilities really start to get limited. I played my 50's in PoV, PoJ, PoI, PoM, and GE. PoI and PoM was with friends in their low 60's. PoV and GE was hard to deal with mezzes because sometimes the mob was too high lvl.

I didn't like the 55-60's as a chanter. However once I got in my 60's it was a lot nicer. I got more reasonable mezzing spells, haste, and of course KEI. I was usefull in groups again.

My chanter spent her mid 50's soloing Dulak with her LFG up pretty much the whole time unanswered =\ (was pre-server merge)
As soon as she got Boltran's Agacerie (she hit PoN or Torgarin mines and did the same.

Since I make my twinks take care of themselves after 50 the Dulak hunts turned into a nice stash in the bank for those 55+ spells.

Actually now that I think of it, pretty much all of my alts spent their 50s soloing Dulak/Torgarin except the druid due to a lack of LoY at the time.

O man this was probally the most boring part of my time on EQ. It seemed like it was gonna take me forever to get to 60. I grinded exp in Howling Stones and PoI

Now that I made 52 and my first 3 aa's I am constantly looking for different things to do. Did a guild raid in Kedge Keep 2 days ago to kill Phinny. That was a trip.

Got a guild raid coming in Bloodfields. I may be a bit useless in that one but if I do any damage at all it will be good. Plus it is a zone I have never seen before. Same with Kedge above.

So I know it is going to take me a LONNNGGGG time to get to 60 but right now I am enjoying the journey.

In my 50's, I was two boxing my Beastlord and Shaman. I hit LoY zones mostly, I think Umbral planes was a hotspot back then, and spent some time two boxing the entrance. Got my shaman to 59 and BL to 60, and quit playing my shaman. Gonna start him back again, so I can 3 box MM's when I can't sleep and no one's on in the guild. But, yeah, the 50's are hell, even without the hell levels

I just want to make some comments on the whole LFG thing. Some argue that they're LFG for hours and don't get a group. Others argue that you can always get a group if you're active about it.

Here's my experiences:

Stay active if you want a group. Get to know other players who are good and enjoyable to play with. Put them on your friends list and always check to see what they're doing. If you're busy send a tell just saying hi. Keep those relationships going. Invite them to your groups if you have a opening. They'll do the same when they're in a group.

Ask around in a zone you want to group in. Do an /ooc for your class or any group spots available. If you don't get an invite you can try a different zone you want to fight in. If you still don't get an opening go to a zone you can solo in. Do a /who and look for others. Sometimes there will be 4 people in the zone all soloing. Send a tell asking politely if they would like to group. Only send one tell don't keep pestering them if they don't answer. Most likely they're too busy at the moment to respond or afk medding. If they tell you "no" it's no big deal. Send a tell wishing them good luck and you'll be there if they want. It's okay to send random tells as long as it's one message and you aren't bothering them. It's not okay to send random group invites. Only send group invites after they let you know they would like to group.

If you get a random tell asking if you would like to group and you don't want to, be polite about it. Tell them your busy or doing something else or you'd rather solo. Tell them thanks for asking and wish them luck. Being polite on both sides is important. If you're nice about it people will ask again when you do want to group. They'll remember and respect you.

Remember one thing, you will go lfg. Sometimes you'll be lfg for long periods of time or only a few minutes. Every class goes lfg for long periods of time. Doesn't matter if you're a cleric or a chanter or a warrior. There are times when there are a lot of clerics available or a lot of tanks available. People who say "Yeah but you're one of those classes". I've had days where I get 5 invites and others where I don't get any the whole time I'm on. It happens deal with it. You can do quests, tradeskills, or even switch to an alt.

Join or start a guild. Guild groups are the best. A set of people with the same outlook and goals that you have. You work better as a team in a guild than pickup groups. You know how each other play and have a big variety of places to go and things to do as a guild. You can put raids together and fight encounters that are impossible with a group. Just remember the number one killer of a guild is drama. Be fair and don't fight with guildies. If you have a problem try to solve it between the two of you. If you need to get an officer involved but keep it out of the rest of the guild.

Between guilds, friends, and LFG there should be plenty of opperunities. It's a big game with lots of people. Sure sometimes there's conflicts but that's impossible when you have a large number of people. Just remember to have fun and let others have fun. It is a game.

It's long I know but I start to ramble sometimes
