Ok, I've looked through posts on this site and another site and I cannot figure this out! Man, am I frustrated!
ANYWHO, I want to research so I can make spells. I have a Book of Dark Bindings, a Concordance of Research and the bookII that I got from the dark elf in South Ro. I have batwings, lapis, bonechips, quills, parchment, and it tells me in both books that I cannot combine these items in these types of containers---well what in the **** am I supposed to combine them in??!!?? GRRR!
Can some kind soul (or dark soul for that matter) please help a newbie out? I would REALLY appreciate it!

Yeah, I read those and that's what made me go find all the stuff'n'junk to do this "research" that I thought would be sooo much fun-woohoo! I still don't understand what I'm doing wrong. . .

To skill up in research at the lower levels there are basically two different ways to go about it.
- you can find the words you need for the spells and do the combines in your Book of Dark Bindings. This is pretty easy to do to get your skill up to 100 or so. The words are cheap and plentiful. Collect them while xping, check vendors and even the bazaar for a stock of words. Recipes here.
- you can make practice runes to skill up. This is a two part process in that first you have to make the runes then you do the research combine. The runes are made with a parchment and quill and these various items depending on the level. That stuff is combined in the Concordance of Research. Then when you've made the azia and beza practice runes you combine them in your Book of Dark Bindings.
