LFG, yeah rightFollow

My main is a 62 Ranger with about 40 AA (Yes, I have devoted a lot of time into AA). I could go into virtually every zone in the game and see a group of FIVE people and ask to join and they will always say, "We are looking for another healer" or "We are looking for more DPS" or "We need a tank" etc. etc.

Being proactive in looking for a group doesn't mean CA-CA (**** for you English majors) unless you are one of the chosen classes. I have only been on ONE LDoN in the past year. Part of the problem is that generally, other than the guilds who spen 60 hours a week on, a pickup group usually is only looking for a tank or healer.

The LFG tool or being proactive is not going to solve the problem of people who spend most of their time looking for a group. Making group requirements to have a max of one class per group would be a start.

Somehow finding a way to end all the powerlevelling crap thats going on would also be an improvement. Go to Dulak and see two or three groups of a Lvl 70 PLing two of his buddies or bots that are level 35. Heck, in that situation, not only can you not get a group, but the high levels are monopolizing the whole friggin zone. I would like it to where someone more than xxx number of levels may NOT cast upon another once a fight has begun, if so, the exp is awarded to the higher level only.

Just a few ideas from someone who has an outside life and doesnt devote 50% of his free time to EQ

when you find a group that is looking for another healer, go put on a shroud of a cleric.....

when looking for a dps, go try on rogue goblin....

there is alot of options now ;-P

can't find a group? do a lfg search with ALL lvls lfg, ask them to meet ya at the docks in BB and go raid free port monster task. i know i was able to do one with "green" con players, don't what lvl they were, but they were green to me. took about 45 min, and got 103% of an AA point.

alot of options now ;-P

When someone tells a ranger "no" because they're looking for more dps I tend to want to assume they're one of those clueless people who get groups killed and thank Innoruuk that I was spared the agony of grouping with them. I once had a guildy (druid mind you) tell my beastlord and a 62 druid buddy that they didnt want a beastlord and druid because they needed a healer and some dps.
People not having a basic understanding of what other classes do are mildly irritating... people that don't even know their own class get groups killed.

Here on prexus a friend of mine started an autojoin chat channel. Anytime we run into someone who plays well or is just fun we invite them to join. There are at least 20 people on channel at any given time now and I rarely go without groups. At 62 I'm sure you've made alot of friends on your way up the grind, make a standing chat channel for you all to hang out in.

I've found it very helpful for those of us that game casually or are in family guilds without the forces to help on epic and keyed raids.

No, absolutely not. Nobody will accept you as a cleric in his group because you have the shroud form of one. Everybody will assume that you have no experience as a cleric...

Sieger: We follow (oh how it hurts to say this...) elorianBLAHs advice. And put the few good people we see along the way on our friends list. The chat channel idea is cool, will implement asap.

It would be a horrible idea. First off, I assume you mean to include one of each archtype (tank, healer, DPS, etc) since there's sixteen classes and that'd make one large group. Secondly, it'd require each class to be pigeonholed into an archtype so a mid-level group couldn't select a ranger to tank, use a necromancer to heal, etc and still fill the slot requirement. Giving classes multiple archtypes ("Rangers can count as Tank, DPS, Healer, CC, etc") would just put you right back where we are now. Finally, and most basic, it would remove the freedom from people to form their own groups based on whatever design they wish.

I devote maybe two hours a night to EQ these days, if that, and I don't see where that makes my opinions any more meaningful than anyone else's.

As others said, joining a casual guild or making friends is a much better way to get a group than SOE making draconian grouping restrictions.

Your best option is going to find a Family/Friends style guild.
I personally couldn't find one I liked so I started my own, but I am never LFG unless I wanna be.

In Arcane Madness we do group with non-guildies but that's getting to be rarer as we have more members on.

The cleric shroud is really not that good, expecialyl at higher levels.

1. IT has poor mana pool

2. IT does not have Complete Heal (at 65 I think its a 2k heal? Thats not even 1 round of hits from alot of mobs.

It might be ok in a lower level group below 50, but past that its really pushing it. I would hate to try and do a WOS or DON group with a cleric shroud.

start your own group : ]

anyway, you got your archery AAs? if yes, with proper gear, you should be a great DPS at this level.

Sometimes it annoys me a little bit that groups are only looking for perfect groups and ***** and whine if they don't work out.

I did have one group that formed a few months ago. They just wanted to head to PoSky to check it out because we had never been there. It was SO MUCH fun!! We ended up going to a bunch of zones we had never been, just to see what they were like. We didn't get much XP, but we had a blast!

Joph: I think he means you can't have more than one of any one class, so a group with two necros would be out. You could have a ranger tank, just can't have another ranger in the group.

I think you might find it easier to find groups if, when you do get in a good group, make sure you impress the hell out of the others so they go looking for you when they need players the next time. They see you looking for group the next time, they grab you.

Or Start your own groups and develop a call-back list.

You can't expect to log in cold and find a ready-made group to do things with you, takes a bit of networking.

Or find a guild that is recruiting. You don't have to join to meet them and get some grouping. If my guild needs a few players to fill out a group, we will surely remember the good players (and the asshats).

Try plannig a group to do something in the comming days. I just planned an All Pallie LDoN took two weeks to put it together. But we flew through the task It was the first time I have cleared the zone before we took the Boss. as a group we are now planning to do the Unrest. I sugest you make a list of players you know and send /tell with a plan you will have great success in grouping

Still stupid. If I'm in a group with a rogue and we need more DPS, we have to skip on the LFG rogue in our level range and wait for someone else to come on just so maybe a lonely ranger somewhere may feel loved? At lower levels where people LFG are rare enough, it'd only serve to slow down and hurt groups. Besides, if people think rangers suck for DPS now, they're still going to skip over the LFG Ranger and wait for a wizard, BST, monk or whatever.

Let people group with whoever they want to group with

The Shrouds are a nice idea but they do not work for the level 70 game.

A level 70 Enchanter shroud cannot crowd control, cannot charm, has no summonable pet and can cast 15 minute clarity.

The level 70 Shrouds cannot be used to replaced needed classes. The only reason to include a level 70 shroud in your group is because the group can already handle the zone they are in with 5 people and you want to power level a friends shroud.

What I have found that works well in forming a group is I will look at friends list and ask if anyone in their guild is lfg. Or you can look at the LFG menu do a search and ask people on that list if they have any guildies LFG. I have even sent a tell to some random type in PoK and asked them to do a /OOC Group in .... has one slot open. If interested PST (insert group leaders name).
Just remember to be polite when asking and you would be suprised how many people have no problems typing out a couple sentances.
Hope this helps a little
