Fairy Monster Mission - What's the deal?Follow

#1 Oct 09 2005 at 10:35 PM Rating: Decent
We are running into a problem with this mission. We go in, work our way to the chest, attack the chest and hide when mobs get near. After chest is broken mobs turn into rats and then we attack the shrines.

Here's the problem, there are 3 shrines in the zone. We kill them all but only get counted for killing 2.

What are we doing wrong?

What strategys do you use?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This has happened to me sometimes. Other times we complete it fine. Our theory is that if you DoT the shrine, and then die, and then your DoT kills the shrine after you die, you don't get credit for killing the shrine. It's a pity since the DoT is the main source of damage you have in this mission. So I try to be careful with the DoTs and not use them if the shrine is low on HP or I think I might draw aggro. I can't be sure that that's the cause, but it seems like that's when it always happens to us.

I've found a few things that our group does now to make sure we don't get bugged.

1.) Don''t DoT shrines when they are under 30% and you are going to die.

2.) Once finished with the shrines, make sure you wait until everyone has re-popped, then have someone stand on the little tree stump to the left of the zone. You should then all receive the xp message.

This one doesn't seem as consistant as the others I've mentioned, but we try to avoid it anyway.

3.) Don't all be dead at the same time. We try to make sure someone is safe at all times.

Once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze.

Good luck.

Also, if you die just as a shrine dies, especially the last one 3/3, sometimes you do not get experience, but rest of group does.

If the whole group does not get xp (because they didn't get credit for killing a shrine) it seems to be that someone dotted the shrine, but was dead (and thus zoning) at the time the shrine died from their dot. If only one person didn't get xp, it seems to be that they were dead (and thus zoning) at the time the mission complete/you gained experience messages popped up.

Sometimes (but not always), if one person doesn't get xp, they are able to zone back in and out, and then they'll get xp. It's worked maybe a handful of times for me.
