Getting tired of the LDON grindFollow

I'm currently with a guild that has been doing quite a bit of LDON grinding lately. I belong to a family style guild, where most of the people have all of the new expansions. We're looking at trying out DoN adventures or possibly a couple of OOW expiditions. I've heard from two other players that OOW expiditions are "open" in attendance format, where players can enter and leave the group while the instance is going on.

1) How exactly do DoN and expeditions work? Do you need to do any pre-flagging (like you had to do with LDON)?

2) What are there level restrictions within the groups for both OOW and DON?

3) Once the instance starts can other people enter and leave the group? Is there any restrictions on level or number of players if this happens?

4) How exactly do radiant crystals work? I know you can purchase items with them (similar to LDON favor points). I assume the type of adventure you do (good/evil) will grant you an ebon or radiant crystal?

5) For DoN is there an faction hits taken by doing a certain type of adventure.

Off the subject there appears to be some solo quests out there as well. Are these worth the effort?

Here's my advice on DoN missions. Don't worry about the crystals. If all you want is fast crystals you'll end up grinding the same missions over and over. I highly recomend trying to beat all the missions. This adds change and variety. Different missions take different strategys. Some of the really fun ones I've tried we never finished, but had a blast trying to get it done. If you keep wiping on a hard mission, go back to one you finished for a quick win and crystals.

DoN can be interchanged with members. Someone can leave and be replaced. If you open your DoN mission window (ALT-Q) there are tabs to see who's in the mission and you can add and drop players at any time. However be careful when you replace someone that their lvl is fairly close. Sometimes if the lvl difference is too much you'll lose the requirements to keep your mission.

Our guild had been going into the instanced Unrest. Like DoN's group members are interchangable and mobs don't respawn. The zone looks and feels just like the regular Unrest but the mobs are level appropriate. You need to get a couple items off named mobs to complete the mission and get a reward.

I think there are other instanced zones like this???

I was wrong - Mistmoore is apparently not another revamped instanced zone.

Hates Fury is the other instanced mission like Unrest. I *think* there are some lower level missions like this as well, but not sure.

I wish I could do drakes again but everyone wants to do creator. Not sure what people hate about drakes so much.

Actually its just any mission but creator I'd like to do but I won't find groups unless I do creator.

You are correct, jrmayii, there are two lower level instanced zones similar to Hate's Fury and Unrest. They are Befallen (which I've done with a lower level alt, and will never do again, heh) and North Qeynos.

We did the DoN mission - "Tracking the Kirin" last night. It was fun and different. Spawning the Kirin was a PITA until one of our group members came to this site to find info. Then he spawned it easily.

The mobs were challenging but not impossible and had some variety. The boss mob was specially cool - it used Grav Flux to throw our tank up in the air. The zone, Stillmoon, is very well done and is the home of other DoN missions. I'd recommend it.

The problem is the mission design. I have done both missions a hundred times each, some with good groups, some were tough for the group and some with Elite groups (not me though). By elite I mean 15000 HP unbuffed tanks and 12000 mana casters. You can kill a million Drakes and still may not be able to collect 15 fangs whereas you can trigger the Creator in under 15 minutes.

Most folks want crystals fast and not storyline so the Creator is popular and collect missions are not. The Lair of the Blackwing mission in the Nest gives out 63 crystals as a reward but is quite challenging for a pick up group so not many do them.
