Questions from a potential NewbFollow

I have recently gotten the urge to play a mmorpg again, since my ps2 cant play eqoa anymore. I know that eq has been around for awhile and i am wondering if it is worth starting to play now, or is it on the downfall from the other recent mmorpg coming out. And if it is, are there some the the expansions that are must haves. And one more question was is the reqs needed for it to run pretty well on the computer.

I would greatly appraicate responses,

Well it is in my opinion still the best game on the market if you like long term games.

If you have a short attention span or want a quick fix, you're better off playing WoW.

If you still plan to be playing in 3 years then EQ is definatly the best game because in that time you will not have come close to doing half of what you can in EQ.

The community is still good, lots of people to group with and get advice from and the end game is the best of any of teh MMORPG.

I would recommend getting the platinum set that has most of the expansions in it and is reasonably priced.

I would say P3 1500+ with 512 Ram on a dial up is minimum and you can run everything with that.

well, if you come from EQOA, you also might considering EQ2, as the laerning curve is lees steep there. con: quite high HW Rqmts...

EQ1 though still is a great game. thats why I came back (and few more are coming back too).

on my old machine it still runs well (with screen res. 1024*768 - PIII 866 MHz, 628 MB RAM, 128 MB AGP Radeon), only in certain overpopulated areas it gets laggy. my newer baby (P4 3 GHz, 1,5 GB RAM, 256 MB AGP) runs the game smooth without lag with a screen res of 1600*1400).

but, EQ1 is not an easy game to play... nobody knows everything (not even GBaji), there is so much to take into consideration when playing... that's though what makes this game so fun. Smiley: smile

as to expansions... these days it's more mandatory to have them all, than maybe 2 years ago.

make your pick :)

Don't blame me blame my Sk's crappy Hit point regen.

It's all well and good having a Froggie Sk but i haven't stuck and regen gear on him yet and i'm suffering soloing him as a consequence.

He can take on anything but has to sit and catch flies for 5 mins every 5 mobs or so.

I'd bet that while his shammy is catching flies he is checking the board, thus...

Aye, EQ1 is not for brand-spankin new players unless they have a ton of time to spend just figuring out everything. And forget about the manuals out there; they're all outdated about the time they hit the shelf.

Even veteran players get confused about what to do if they've been gone awhile.
