I am working the DoN Armor quest for the Tunare Cultural Armor.
Quest sends me to Lower Guk to kill ghouls, and collect Phosphorius Powder. I have to kill 50 gouls and loot 20 powders.
I spent 4 hrs there yesterday, and kill more than 50 ghouls all over the place and only came across 3 powders. That really is wrong. At this rate I will have to kill 400 gouls to get enough powder for quest :end rant

I too was like you...

Gotta go to the bottom where the HARD ghouls are (well not that much harder). You will get your powders in 20 minutes. I too killed 50 near the entrance with exactly ZERO powders for my efforts.

Seriously though, 38 Pally + 43 SK pwned down there. I would be hesitant to take the Pally by himself though. Get 3 or 4 35+ and you will be fine. Bring an evaccer if you can.

Where exactly were you hunting?

In my experience the ghouls around the entrance hardly ever drop the powder. Actually I don't think I've ever seen powder from any ghouls from the entrance to the bridge.

Where I usually find a large drop rate of powder is past the safe hall. The corridors leading to Lord and Frenzied have a very high drop rate. The last time I camped the FBSS, I got about 5 stacks of powder in about 4 hours or so. If you happen to be in LGuk when there are high level toons farming that area you could ask to tag along.

Another thing is, I don't know if you'll be able to handle the frogs past the safe hall by yourself at level 36/37. At least you couldn't do it before Velious. With the equipment available nowdays it might be possible. My suggestion would be to get a few friends together. Invis to bridge. Jump off on the left side and set up camp in safe hall. Pull the frogs heading towards the frenzied and lord and you should get all the powder you need. Hope this helps.

I got as far as the bridge area and the hall beyond before I ran into trouble with adds. I think I was 37 or 38 Paladin at the time. With invis to undead you have a measure of protection.

I did not get any powders until I jumped down from the bridge and worked the lower portion. Urd Ghouls maybe? But I had help, I wouldn't have ventured down that deep alone without evac or FD at that level. But like I said, I had 20 powders in no time, some mobs have 2 or 3.

I concur. The Phosphorus Powders drop mostly from the hallways past the Safe Hall. I spent many, many, many days hunting this area with my Necromancer since the high 40s (mostly for exp and the FBSS) and let me tell you, I made a good amount of cash just from selling stacks and stacks of powder. Being a necro and designed specifically to fight undead it wasn't hard for me, but even as a pally you will have trouble alone below 40.
