Questions about what's changedFollow

Howdy, I used to play EQ decently hardcore, but have been out of the country for the last 2 years and haven't played.

I've just gotten back, and wanted to know some of the major changes over the last 2 years. I already see that my old server doesn't exist, and there appears to be 210938 expansions. Can anyone help me out or maybe send me a link to somewhere helpful?

Thanks!

Some of the biggest changes have been from the last couple of expansions.

The biggest change is all the servers were merged. Each server was merged with another to help the low and high populations. All of the Zek servers were merged into one and use a single rulset.

Platinum package is EQ's latest set that includes all the expansions except the latest Omens of War and Dragons of Norath. Platinum can be purchased for aroun $20-$30.

Omens of War increased the lvl cap to level 70 and introduced a 2nd epic quest for all classes. Dragons of Norath focuses on instanced dungeons and adventure zones for group and raid encounters. Dragons also includes a system similar to Lost Dungeons of Norath that include purchasable gear and augmentations.

Another big change is the 85% will in. This means a group or raid can "will in" players who aren't flagged for a zone. As long as the group or raid has 85% of the members flagged. This makes it easier and faster for guilds to handle backflagging.

Another feature that is new is a newbie tutorial zone. This zone allows new players to start out in the same zone and reach level 10 or so. It helps walk new players with features and gameplay. It includes special quests for newbie gear and xp.

A lot of changes have happened in the last 2 years. I've only been playing a little over a year and I've seen lots of changes. Welcome back and good luck.

Some more biggies (if you have all the expansions, some are true even if you don't):

In game MAPS (For those of us hopelessly lost)
Pets zone with you and don't die when you zone.
Mounts, horses and drogs for mana regen standing, as if you were sitting, also eliminates sitting agro, only able to use outdoors.
No corpse runs, you can summon corpse to guild lobby for a small fee.
Even if you fail to recover your copse, it goes to a shadowland, so you never have to lose all your equipment.
Shared bank spaces to pass items amoung your toons.
A bigger better bazaar, you can be a buyer or seller.
Tradeskills, you can take many to 300 without an AA.

All toons can get Plane of Knowledge, even without the expansion. It is a place you can buy spells, find transporter stones, get buffs, do your banking, no fighting. The merchant or quest giver you want won't have been killed.

A find feature in many zones, that creates a golden pathway to the NPC or PC you seek.

A fantastic tutorial feature.

Lots more I'm sure, but I can't be sure of timing.

MAPS MAPS did I say maps?

/edits for spelling and adding that there are maps.
