Just a few DoN questions...Follow

#1 Aug 06 2005 at 9:47 AM Rating: Decent
I have just reciently returned and haven't had a chance to play with DoN yet. I noticed the new "reclaim" button and was wondering how that works with the crystals. Also, once you buy an item, can you turn the item back in and get the crystals back?

Last question. I have a 65 shaman with 80something aa's, a 59 necro and a 50 sk. My plan is to level up the necro and sk to 65 and then 3-box DoN's. I'm just wondering what missions you would recomend for this setup or if you have any other thoughts on this.

Thanks in advance.

I'll take the reclaim button question. You get the crystals from a mission (or buy them in bazaar), they go in inventory. You hit the reclaim button to move them in (and out) of inventory. You cannot spend them when they are in a bag, you have to reclaim them first.

On Bristlebane they are at a reasonable price right now (as low as 150pp each) and the gear is very nice.

Im pretty sure once you buy a item from a DON merchant your stuck with it, so choose well. However unlike LDON you can actually buy some decent items without doing 50 missionss. Within 3 missions I was able to afford a +12 to all stats augmentation that fit in any slot. My only rant with many of the items on DOn merchants is all the weapons and armor that is actually a upgrade to me has a required level of 70. For a casual player who just hit 66 that is a long way away. About the best items I can truely buy (and use) are augmentations with stats.

One of the reasons I wish they had never let players go past level 65. I was quite happy earning AA points and not worrying about watching me gain .1% exp per kill anymore.

For DoN missions to start out, you get 'Grounding the Drakes', which gives you decent exp, and nice plat (once got at 400pp+ each split with a full group). If you do them over and over, it builds up, and you get good faction as well.

As for the 3 boxing DoN missions... it will be possible, but it won't be easy. A lot of the named mobs for 65+ missions are not what you'd really consider a "pushover" and require some decent DPS to really take down effectively. It's hard to say which mission that trio would be able to do well. One nice thing about DoN missions is you get like 6 hours to complete them, so you probably WOULD be able to complete it eventually, it would just take a while.

You'd want to stay away from any drake missions with that group. There are a lot of caster drakes and they can tear you up if you don't have any way to limit their casting (or at least create hell with gates). My bard constantly mez locks caster drakes which has the benefit of preventing them from casting as well as meleeing usually (since as soon as someone breaks mez, they usually try to cast again right away).

To get an idea of the DPS needed (since I saw you posted a 59 necro) I was in a mission to Stillmoon Temple with my 58 necro, in a full group. Every mob I was stacking 6-7 DoTs twice each - Splurt, Pyrocruor, Cessation, Plague, Ebolt, Dark Soul and Vexing Mordinia when needed - in addition to my rogue pet. That's a lot of DPS.

Best way to get crystals is to box a don mission, grounding the drakes is so simple to pull off. Also if u have a willing friend, or two, who isnt doing anything just add them to the task and they get the reward once completed even if they didnt zone in ect ect. Then collect off them afterwards. This also works on logged off characters that were added then camped, when u complete and relog them they will have the crystals on them for reward. Expect that to be nerfed soon.

I found this out when a comp froze up and needed reboot, took too long to get it back on while alts sat in don so i finished it with 4 rather than 5 toons. Was surprised to see reward on toon that went ld when i finally got it back online.

Thanks for all the replies.

One last question, do the missions scale in level like LDoN's?

This web site has information on the Don progression.

As for working on crystals, I like the creator mission. I have never tried to box it so I am not sure how hard that would be.

Have fun.
