Friend new to EQFollow

First I would like to say I have a 70 rogue (Time/Innky Geared) and a 55 druid. I did take a two year break from eq and just got back about 2 months ago, loving it now more than ever.

Anyway, one of my really good friends just had a birthday and I got him EQ Chronicles (which contains EQ, Kunark, Luclin, LoY) and a few months worth of game play. He started a wizard and I am playing a bard (great pair I know heh)… Anyway we played together on Sunday for a couple hours and never left the tutorial and made it to level 6. We are working on a couple silly quests (plant the bomb, kill the spiders, etc) and will soon move to the big bad world of Norrath.

I was thinking about doing the quests in PoP for armor and stuff, but I think he also wants to explore and goof off…

What do you guys recommend doing so that I can really peak his interest?

well, let him decide what to do. I though would under no circumstance give him money/items/PL him. he should earn it himself. else it gets spoiled easily...

show him the sights though, like the chessbaord, the gobbies in BB, crushbone, unrest...

and, have fun you two Smiley: smile

Aye, just keep doing those quests, they should give him a good idea of some of the zones and the layout of norrath. Also take him around to the various cities (he can get in without faction issues) and explore around.

When I needed something different from the grind, I took my druid and began a "Planewalk."

The idea was pretty much just to see every single zone I was capable of getting in, and I'm NOT just talking about zoning in, and zoning out, and saying I had been through. I mean all four corners and the center. I took screenshots of "landmarks" and began writing a story behind it.

The world of Norrath is honestly a very beautiful place...too many people, in their desire to "race to the end and win" forget to look around, rather than look for what drops the most loot, or what drops the most XP.

That being said, I have to agree with the above poster. Show him the sights. The chessboards, the secret staircase and wall in Unrest, the tree city of Kelethin, the dwarven guardian of Kaladim, etc.

It's a game - have fun, both of you.

Take him to the top of Kurn's tower, on the little ledge that runs around the entirety of it, and show him the entirety of the Field of Bone...(make sure his far clip plane is 100% =p) it's actually quite beautiful, despite the name... or take him to some of the various Seas... they're really beautiful *tear*

Thanks all :-) Last night we kept doing the quests in the tutorial. We finished all of them except 1, the overlord... We even did te pit Fiend although in order to tank it I had to log on my twinked warrior while he nuked the heck out of it...

So now that we are both level 10 I think we are going to head out of the tutorial and wonder around the world... I started reading a few of the quests and it looks like they will take us all around the world, so I think I am going to have him stick to those...

Thanks for the suggestions..
