Hell. If I was the GM in that case, I'd probably do the exact same thing. If for no other reason then to have an email to spread around and laugh about...

Actually, according to the picture, this is the stuck character forum, so the GM probably just told the player to /petition it because using macroquest is not within that realm. If the player petitioned it though, it would probably stand a better chance of something being done about it.

My question is, assuming the petition was done and SOE did something about the macroquest claim, is what happened to the guild in question? Bet they wont be too happy with their new guildee!

Yeah. But I'm not getting the joke here. Ok. I get it, but it's not really that funny.

You could have done that with *any* topic. It's not GM indifference to any given thing. It's GM indifference to *anything* that's not specific to the chat forum you're in. Exactly how hard is it to log a chat session in a forum, ask a question totally unrelated to that forum and get a screenshot of the GM telling you to go to the correct area? Not exactly rocket science or anything.

What did you expect that guy to do? His job is to help people who's characters are stuck in game. Not play cop for an obvious idiot/troll. It's one of those things you can always manipulate to make look funny. Doesn't even take any particular skill. The guy can try that a hundred times until he gets the right response, right? Totally meaningless...

Yes. I know that. What's the point?

My statement was that the "joke" isn't realy funny. The joke is supposed to be about how the GMs either don't know or don't care about MQ use in game, and this is supposed to somehow illustrate this. So you go into the "stuck character" chat room, start rambling about using MQ, and if the GM doesn't stop what he's doing (like actually helping people who have characters stuck in game right now) and "do something" about your MQ use, it's supposed to make some broad statement about SOE CS in general?

And that's not even taking into account that you could literally do this a hundred times a day until you got the response you wanted, so you could post it somewhere on the internets and make people think you were really really cool/clever/whatever.

It's about as funny as the "made you flinch" jokes were in grade school.

Actually, I thought the funnier aspect of it was the guy rambling on himself. While I know nothing of the commands and such used by macroquest, I do know that typing /q<anything> will run the /quit command and dump you out of the game.

Hence why my original post was about the GMs wanting a formal petition so they'd have something to share and laugh about (give the next shift something fun). I saw it was the questioner being a total idiot, thinking he was going to get "phat lewts" using MQ, but really getting tricked into logging out of the game instead.

I was mostly responding to Czae's comment about how it was done to make fun of the GMs indifference towards mq. To me, that's a pretty lame joke. The /q thing is much much funnier...
