Hiya folks,

Title of the thread is "bored *in* EQ", not "bored *with EQ."

When I hit 39, I realized there was a new DoT spell I could use, but it was a spell you needed LDoN points to buy.

I hadn't done an LDoN yet, so I went on a mad LDoN binge, eventually being level 42 by the time I actually got the points for the spell, given the great XP you get from LDoNs.

Then I saw my new pet was at level 44, some decent spells at 43 even, something to get excited about getting to use when I leveled up.

I also saw that I could use "Auspice" at level 45,which is a quested spell, and that quest is also the first part of the quest to get the higer-level FD spell later on called Comatose. To get "Auspice" you have to kill a bunch of luggald's in Dulak's Harbor, so I set about doing that, ended up in a few groups, died a few times, but had fun working towards a goal. Also during this time, my mid 40's, I began laying the groundwork for my epic, went as far as killing Sir Edwinn Motte in a bar in freeport and bringing the head to that guy in Rathe Mtnts.

The next part of my epic involves getting the Flowing Black Robe from Najena(sp?) or buying one from the baz, I didn't see one in the bazaar and I trued to go into Naj and get to Najena herself but I got lost in that key system and it got late so I gated out.. anyway that's for another post.

(Also during this time period I made (and will make) periodic runs to RM to farm a few Hill Gaints for some cash, enough to buy stuff I wanted like my expensive food, etc.)

So anyway by the time I got the 2 "luggald organs" to drop I was level 45. So I did the turn in and got the spell "Auspice".

So by then I was halfway to 46, and I was thinking, sweet, I can get KEI and Virtue to stick on me at 46. I was doing fine with temp or even with just my own buffs that I have, but it's the idea of getting to a higher level and being able to have some new, powerful thing available.

So I hung around Dulak's and grouped with some guildies until I hit 46. Apparently you can get KEI to sdtick on you at 45 because I was hanging around in PoK with like 1/2 yellow left to ding 46, and I just held my cursor over my buffs one time and saw Koadic's Endless Intellect, much to my surprise.

So anyway, I dinged 46... got some KEI.. Virtue....

and then...

Now I don't know what to do with myself... poke around here or there.. kill a few things... ho hum.

I know there is so much to do, I'm just not sure what. I'm in a slump, since for the last 10 levels or so, I had been constantly working towards some short term goal.

I don't mind grinding straight XP, I have done that a lot, but alot of the XP i've been getting recently has just been a side effect of doing stuff I needed to get done.

I am currently a level 46 necro. I have pretty decent gear for my level.

Can anyone reccomend something that might be fun/rewarding to focus on right now and through my late 40's?

Are there any neat quests that are approprioate for my level and class that anyone can think of off hand?

Are there any cool hunting grounds with decent drops? Decent XP is nice, too. Although for a while there I thought I might be elveling even too fast and missing some content. I enjoy the journey as much as the destination. But I wouldn't mind hanging around in a sweet XP zone, if it were someplace new and exciting that I've never been to.

I always like having something to work on, try hard at, and hopefully succeed.

I have every expansion except OoW, but I think I may go and install OoW tonight, because there might be some really neat stuff there.

I am particularly interested in if there are some OoW quests or something (or any quests at all for that matter) that would be difficult, but not impossible, for a 46 necro to complete.

Any ideas? Being that I am 46, should I install OoW and start checking it out just for something new? Or am I not yet high enough in level for it to be worth it?

Ready to open up my next chapert, it just hasn't come to me as to which direction to go. I'm in a bit of a slump and maybe a bit of inspiration would help.

Sorry for the long post, folks. I appreciate anyone's advice though.

regards,
J/A

P.S. I DO want to go and kill the Spectres on that island in Oasis. :-)

I have yet to play in oow myself so I'd be interested in the replies.

My sk is 46 and I had him out in the grey the other day. The grey is an airless zone so you will need an eb item or dmf. It is also one of the "hot zones".

The stuff around the temple cons blue/white/yellow and pays 2%-3% xp per kill. Pulling might be a problem but you probably could pet pull. The temple is kinda tight to kite but you could always root rot. There are some ok drops around the temple.

The zone walls are perfect for kiting and those mobs mostly conned blue. The zone is fairly empty these days.

Another "hot zone" is dulack. There are lots of camps there and lots of people there as well. I think at 46 the mobs were paying 1%-2% xp with occasional gem drops. I got a diamond last night.

Greetings Joujouka,

I hear ye...unfortunately my Necro only made it to 37, so no Necro specific advice.

I am hunting in Scarlet Desert for the past 10 levels (I just hit 50 earlier on) - which is a hotzone at the moment. With vet rewards on I made up to 3 yellers within those 30 mins. Until two days ago I thought only the exp. is great (cheetahs, lightcrawlers and sunflowers do not drop anything at all), and then I found the rockhoppers. drops of superb rockhopper hides are not uncommon, maybe 1 out of 4 kills so far. they also con DB, so the 2% per kill (for DB's) are nice too.

today though I hunted with some of the guys from Aude at the zoneline to the grey. Granted, mobs hit harder, have more HP (some up to 5 k), but the "a bloodtribe warrior" also drops acrylia, some PP (5 max so far) and runes/words.

apart from that... MY next goals is to hit 52 and then rack in a few AA's - runspeed, regen( yes, I know I should wait until later, but what the heck, it's my firt char above 50...).

maybe that is sumtin you could enjoy too Smiley: smile

safe travels.

Edit: typo

Sweet, ya'll. Thx for the replies so far.

I did spend a bit of time in Scarlet Desert before and did well there. I got a port to TS and then zoned into SD and pulled stuff to the TS zone line. Now that I am a higher level I can probably explore the rest of that zone, or maybe even zone into The Grey to poke around a bit there.

Also Dulak's, there are some good drops in Dulak's and I would like to 'splore a bit more there, I also need to eventaully get luggald blood, alive, and bilse for my Comatose spell.

I also want to do some quests. I tried to get a premium membership on Alla's so I could look up quests by class, but after I put my CC# in then I got the error that the page could not load, tried three time. (this was like a week ago though) I will try again tonight. I bet I am missing out because there are alot of cool quests I am skipping right over.

Mmmmmmmmmm quests..

Thanks all, and advice is always welcome.

Also, any advice on getting the Flowing Black Robe from Najena? I know the a'sposedly sell in the bazaar but I have never seen one. Everything in Naj is green to me but I still have not figured out the key system. I know the sequence, which I got off this site, but I am not finding the mobs where the directions say they are a'sposed to be. I did find Bonecracker. Even with my map. I am good with driving directions in my car, but in any other way, particularly with games, I am directionally chalenged.

One way to get to Najena without the key...walk up to her door and try walking through it. Sooner or later (most likely within a few seconds) you'll aggro one of the mages, and subsequently Najena as well. Make sure you tell your pet to back off, and Najena will waltz through the door to attack you. Watch out for the Widowmistress tho, as she tore apart my necro in the mid 40s with ease (hits fast, eats pet, then eats necro).

Crystal Caverns is a fun place to roam around in, especially with invis and DMF (just float down into the pit and start pulling orcs at the bottom). Invis your way to the Geonids to find decent xp to the high 40's, and make a fair amount of cash as well.

In the mid 40's I had my necro soloing the undead in Gunthak a fair amount. Many were light blue, but they died so quickly between undead slow and pet tanking that the xp ended up pretty decent. Also hunted at the "fort" area (enter the tunnel and take your first left). From there I moved on to the entrance of The Hole and the Temple area of Gunthak around 49.

As for quests...work on the Necromancer Skullcap quest. If you're a non-Iksar it will involve a great deal of faction work, but the ultimate piece is worth it. Much of the quest can be completed solo in the mid-40's, and the final pieces in the low 50's (if you're careful).

Cool!!

Thank you Marres. Great post, great advice.

I am going to try and look up the skullcap quest and see if I can get that going. Also thanks very much for the advice about Najena. I am not sure if I have found the actual door itself yet with Najena on the other side (that I know of anyway), but that makes it a lot easier now that if I do find it, I can probably aggro her through the door. Sweet. Can she be targetted through the door and cast upon? (Is it a solid door or bars?)

Crystal Caverns! great idea.. I hear some decent loot drops there in the form of gems. I'll be checkin' that place out too.

Also, as far as Gunthak, I've been doing a lot of soloing there, too. I've even ventured to the front of the temple area, and single-pulled a few initiats from the front, but I dared not venture to close to the entrance sans group.

Thanks again, I think that might be just what I needed to revitalize my EQ 'sperience.

Najena: You'll find her door after a short swim...watch out for the undead froglok swimming about. Won't be able to target her through the door, as far as I know--perhaps you can with Eye of Zomm? Not sure. Her door is solid, as opposed to bars.

The temple mobs in Gunthak: You can single pull them all if you're careful. I started out on just the stair mobs, then would take out the wanderers above. Never bothered going inside to hunt. I would aggro kite them around the pit area to the right of the temple stairs. Just turn off pet taunt, load on dots, and run about.

the Draniks Hollows instanced zone are very nice xp also and since the difficulty is set to lvl of the person that gets the instance they are not bad at your level with a decent group and there are quite a few quests in OOW but need to have very high faction to get them...also if you farm the instances the named mobs drop some decent loot...also the possibility of getting slugworms (which sell for a mint) is there even in the lower level instances...just some other ideas
