Very Silly QuestionsFollow

Hello. :)

I've just a few rather silly questions. I played EQ years ago, but I've rather fallen behind the times. Is it still worth starting all over again as an untwinked newbie, or has the game pretty much moved on to a state where newer characters would have very little hope of ever running with the big boys?

Secondly, what class or duo works well for soloing? Well, or duoing, I guess. Thinking about two boxing a little, but I'm not sure what works anymore. I used to play a druid and while I loved quadding things, I'd like to be able to handle at least some indoor stuff as well. I've no real preference for classes, other than a general preference of casters (including priestly casters) to straight melee. Any suggestions for decently strong solo artists or duo combos?

Thanks for your time and opinions. :)

--Tassica, once again the newbie.

If you want a decently strong solo or duo character take a Beastlord or Shaman. Look at the other threads in the past 2 weeks about best duo class.
As for twinking, you will start the tutorial and come out better geared then when you played 4 years ago. Some truely new people come into the game all the time. To repeat Assailant what do you care about twinking? Look at the low prices in bazzar for rygorr and acrylia. Its disgusting to someone who carried a velium short sword for 12 levels and wore a bronze Bp thinking he was uber.

my guess is that the newbie part of the question is because starting out fresh ( unless he bought pp) he wouldnt have the ability to twink for a while

If I was able to 2 box and due 2 characters from start till lvl 70 I would have to go with SK and Shaman. Those 2 together would be a nice little combo. The sk for his AC, Hp, Snare line, and pet. The shaman for his root, wonderful buffs, pet and able to wear chain as opposed to the druid. The druid makes a great PL because of the DMG shield and a good duo idea. I personally woudld do a Iksar SK and a Ogre shaman. You could do alot with that combo.

it is still fun play but i think the gap between hardcore and casual players is growing greater. If you are starting from the begining now it would be like a full time job to catch up to the 'big dogs'.

If I were to start over and intended to duo exclusively I think I might go for either a beastlord/enchanter or a paladin/bard. Both would be risky, but in both duos you could switch your attention from one to the other in turn, instead of having to pay attention to both equally at all times.

Also if you wanted to expand your group you could accommodate pretty much anyone, with a preference to a healer in the first and DPS in the second.
