invisibility itemsFollow

#1 Jul 18 2005 at 9:01 AM Rating: Decent
Hi and hope someone can help. My hubby and I have recently started playing everquest a few months ago and because of our erratic playing times and schedules find it hard to get regular groups.

I am desperately trying to get my deepwater emblem for my temp quest. I am currently a 37 cleric and no matter how much I try I am getting obliterated each and every time I get into Dulaks Harbor with my hubby who is a 37 necro. I have been there and the emblem has dropped from other groups and they have announced it's availability to loot but no matter what I do invisibility always drops as soon as I head into the zone.

Are there any items available for purchase that have invis as a clicky or can someone give me any ideas before I keep loosing levels through constant dyeing

thanks

You can purchase Cloudy Potions from the Potions Vendor in PoK. They go for about 12pp or so.

1. Group with someone who can cast invis on you.
2. Buy (lots of) Cloudy Potions.

Deepwater emblems seem to drop like candy now-a-days with all the traffic in Dulaks (at least on Povar). You should not have all that much trouble getting one eventually.

One invis item I have used is the 5-charge invis Mask of Espionage (Katta quest) but you need to be a bit higher probably to run that quest, plus alll the faction work needed. Nice thing is it can be recharged.

Level 36 is when I obtained my Temp spell, but I was regularly fighting in groups of 4+ in the Pen and the easier boats.

Just curious, how do you get to Dulaks without invis?

by the way, the emblem also drops in the fort area in Gunthak. got one two weeks ago, when camping it for my brother. maybe the drop rate is not as good as Dulak, but the mobs hit a lot less hard too.

Thanks for the answers guys.

Dothammer, had a ranger with us the other night who was regularly casting invis on me each time the emblem was called..I would get anout 10 steps then the damned thing would break and pop..I was visible to all and sundry and getting my rear killed.

I know what you mean about them dropping on Povar regularly. 3 dropped in the time I was there..I just couldn't get to the damned things before invis broke

just load up with cloudy potions....they are insta-click and the mobs are spread out enough in dulak where you shouldn't have a problem recasting when it starts to fade.

One of my pet peeves is the randomness (is it?) of invisibility spells. My enchanter, before traveling through Gunthak tunnel, casts invis on the dock, 10 seconds later it fades. Cast again, this time it lasts all the way to Dulak.

My druid's improved superior camo almost never fails (cannot remember last time it faded early). That one is self only though.

I have started to do the following (if I have time): cast invis, wait one minute, if it does not fail, then proceed. I know it's crazy but it seems that if it is going to fail, it is in the first few minutes or it lasts 10.

I would ask a Mage for an invis stone. Forget now what lvl they get that spell but it is a timed invis. Save it untill the call for the drop comes click and you have 20 mins of guarenteed invis. Hope this helps. BTW what server do you play on? If you play on Tunare I can get you a stone free O charge.

I thought the "improved" self-only invis spells would never drop early. I know that's how my IvU works at least. Is regular invis not like this?
#10 Jul 18 2005 at 9:35 AM Rating: Decent
correct, improv'd camo/invis will not drop early. But, like mentioned above they are self only.

I thought I heard they were going to introduce improv'd invis potions made with Alchemy.....

Improved invis is however getting a player high enough to cast it to follow her to Dulak then wait until her emblem drops before they cast thier improved invis on her might be a bit tough. That's why I suggested the Mage invis stone. She can carry it with her and click it when she needs it.

Wouldn't work anyway...as mentioned a few times above the Improved invis spells are self only.

I only asked the question becauce of this:

No they arent.

Wizzy spell phase walk lvl 67 isnt self only and is timed.

Mage Shere of Air also lvl 67 the stone I was talking about.

Druid lvl 68 Cloak of Nature is timed.

Again the Mage's stone would be the easiest to get I would think. I think I have even seen them for sale in the Baz for 10-20 pp.

Sorry, I thought we were talking about "Improved" Superior Camo.

edit: Do the higher level wizard invis spells have a minimum level required? I've heard it's around lvl 60 or so, but I'm not sure.

Just for a bit more information.

One of the vendors in the tower in Gunthak sells cloudy potions. That's deliberate. It's for people who don't have invis to stock up on so they can get through the zone to either Nadox or Dulak.

That should make the run easy. It'll cost you a bit, but it's really not that much.

Also, be aware that invis will turn off if you cast another spell, attack, or loot a corpse. Interestingly enough, you can pick up ground spawn while invis, but you can't loot a mobs corpse (or your own!). So be aware of that when you go to loot the emblem, and be prepared to reinvis right afterwards.

"Improved" spells in the 50s are self only and fixed length.

With Omens most (all?) Caster/Priest classes got fixed length, targetable Invis or Invis to Undead spells. Like Omens buffs they require the target character to be level 60 (like Conviction, etc).

If the Mage Stone is usable before 60, that would be great.

Guess two would be the cloudies. Because they are instant click, you can drink one once you get the "you feel yourself starting to appear" msg to refresh your invisibility and never actually appeat. So.. start with a "free" invis from a group mate (if you can) and save the 12p Cloud Potions for refreshing if it drops.

And, in case you never heard this, if you invis two characters at the same time.. the Cleric will *always* appear first. It's a fact!

These are usually for sale in the bazaar fairly cheap. Only one shot, but it won't drop on you. Should last long enough to get to where you need to.

Phase Spider Blood

Yeah. We used to use those all the time. Honestly though, a few cloudy potions are probably still cheaper and more useful in a general way. I'd save the phase spider blood for a situation where you really really need to make sure your invis lasts. I think the last time I used one was when crawling through a zone to pick up groundspawns and I didn't want to even risk an invis fading. It's somewhat of a waste for just running through gunthak IMO, especially if you're running in to loot something, since you're going to need invis to get back out, right?

Ok. Maybe not. I'm thinking from a non-gating class perspective. So maybe it's worthwhile. I'd honestly just buy the cloudy potions. They're right there in the zone where you need them, so there's no need to hunt around in the bazaar for them. And if you have DoN, the potion belt makes them really really useful. And as someone else pointed out, since they are instant cast, you can use another cloudy potion while on the run once you start seeing the "you feel yourself starting to appear" message, and you'll never appear. As long as you bring a few along, you should be fine.

Buy your cloudy potions then bring up your potion belt (alt p, shift p, control p? someone help me on this) pick up your potions and drop em in one of the two slots, they should show in the window in green. You can keep however many you want in your packs and they will show in that window. Dont click off the potion belt window, move it up by the long task bar or wherever its convenient for you. I have done this because I have the same problem with inviz. YOu have an insta click inviz potion right there to click on when you see its dropping. Solved most of my problems and it's saved me many times on the way to Proving Grounds.

whoooo thanks all you guys for your input and to all the higher level guys in Dulak who allowed me to loot the emblem when it dropped from one of their mobs. I got itlast night using cloudy potions and this time invis didn't break at all till I looted and then I could gate out. You guys rock

Phased Spider Blood price varies in Bazaar is a fixed duration invis. Also the Shaman made potions of Concelment are supposed to be a fixed duration invis, 3rd and final Item that I am aware of is a Mage summoned stone level 66 I think that is a fixed duration invis item

Unless this has been fixed recently this is not true. A shaman guildy made up some of these for me one time. It wasn't a fixed invis then. I'm not sure if they are supposed to be or not. These potions are stackable but they are not insta-cast potions. I still prefer to carry around about 10 cloudy's.

Half Capacity Gnomish Vanishing Device
Full Capacity Gnomish Vanishing Device

If you have the cash, these tinkered items are great for those of us who can't invis themselves. They are rechargable with Mana Baterries (Class 5 for Half Capacity and Class 6 for Full Capacity). They seem to be more steady then Cloudy Potions, but they have a casting time. Personally, I carry a Half Capacity device, a stack of Mana Batteries, and a couple of Cloudy Potions for instant cast in case the device invisibility drops while I'm crossing a zone.
