I hate planar progression. Nothing like paying for a expansion you can't use because you don't spend 5 hours at a time raiding
I find that comment extremely misleading. EACH expansion pack offers content for various levels of gaming experience.
Planar Progression is not an expansion, it is a series of quests from an expansion. Like everything else in the World of Norrath, the more work you put into it, the greater the rewards.
Examples:
Tradeskills: You don't HAVE to do them, but if you spend a lot of time (and plat) doing so, you can make some REALLY nice stuff.
Epics: You don't HAVE to do them. They require a lot of work. In fact, the 1.0 stuff for most classes is crappy compared to what you can now buy in the bazaar. HOWEVER, there is a reward (accomplishment, AA, fun, opens 1.5 etc etc).
Quests: The hardest, most time consuming quests in the game yield the biggest rewards (usually).
and finally;
Planar Progression: You do NOT have to do Planar Progression to play EQ. You can reach level 70, see some great zones and get some fantastic gear without ever having to do one tiny bit of Planar Progression. However, if you choose to spend the time doing it, you will reap the rewards (too many to list, but for me the biggest reward has been the fun I have with my companions as we scratch and bite for each little flag).
Sooooooooo, to say that you "can't use an expansion because you don't spend five hours at a time raiding is simply not true." Each expansion offers even the most casual player some playable content and features. However, if you still feel that you should have access to every cool feature of the game just by buying the expansion and not working for the rewards, then I can think of several Online games I would be happy to recommend.
