Ladder problemsFollow

Help definatly required for an idiot.

I started a new Iksar Shadowknight and hit the newbie armour quests fronm PoK.

Killed required number of mobs etc. and got the note to turn in to Guild master.

Went to Cabilis to see guild master only to find he is on an upper floor accesabile by ladder.

Now the problem. I can get up the ladder but whenever I try to get off I fall back doen to the ground. The ladder is flat to the wall so I can't get off forward and there are no ledges to the side either.

I've tried Turning round, I've tried moving sideways, I've tried jumping, I've tried stepping backwards, I have also tried swearing at my keyboard, (very satisfing but not very effective). Levitate stopped me from using the ladder at all.

Any suggestions welcome.

Ladders are a bit of a pain. A day or so ago in the Oasis I climbed the ladded in the Specter tower to get to the top and it took me several tries to get up it with out falling. I would say just take it slow going up.

Yeah, ladders in EQ generally suck. Going up, all you can do is go slow and use mouselook to stay straight. For going down, I turn around and slowly step backwards. I'll eventually "fall", but as long as I was going slow enough, I'll grab the ladder only a few rungs from the top. That's the only way I've been able to do it in all the years that I've been playing. If you're going to do it this way, it may help to turn always run off (I don't know for sure if it does, I just do it out of habit).

I've got no problem going up. It's getting off at the top that I'm having trouble with.

Hole looks something like this and the XXX is where I need to step to. ________ and { are sheer walls.

Yeah, I know the ladder you mean....get to the top and stand on top, turn around to face away from the wall and get the timing right on hitting move foward just a split second before you jump. You will fall many many many times, but eventually you will get it right. This ladder has always been a pain in the a$$. I wish I knew a better way to tell you, or some way that "works every time!", but I don't.

yeah i think I know what spot you're talking about. I always managed it by just going up to the top of the ladder, turning around and hitting jump and up about the same time. Its a pain in the ***.

After I turned around I would actually hit jump and then real quickly press forward. Your toon crouches down before they jump, and this is the time you need to start hitting forward.

Are you talking about the top floor or getting back out of the basement(s)?

Getting to the top floor (I have Iksar BST) I am convinced you need to climb to the top, then levitate yourself. I could not climb the ladder if I was levitated first.

Getting out of the basement I would climb to the top of the ladder and sort of jump/move to one side. Helps to slam against the wall where the floor is. Half the time you fail and fall back down.
