What does a Cowl of Mortality look like?Follow

What the heck does a Cowl or Mortality look like when equipped? I've had so many conflicting reports my head is spinning. I've personally confirmed that at least on the Luclin human male model, the Custom Cowl looks like plate, but what does a non-Custom one look like on a Luclin human male model? You'd think this would be easy to figure out, but everybody and their brother tells me something different, and it doesn't help that Lucy is apparently wrong on this subject...

Thanks in advance for any help and/or observations you may have made :)

Not that I don't trust someone with your reputation, Jophiel, but would anyone care to second that? I really don't want to spend the cash on one and find out it had a chain graphic like a fair number of people have told me.

Oh, second away... I know Customs are the "Special" Velious helm texture with Old models which (I believe) defaults to generic plate with Luclin models.

*sigh* Unfortunately, one came up for sale just a moment ago at a reasonable price and I bought it. To my dismay, it has a chain graphic. Now I'm broke and am stuck looking at this ugly thing...

Cowl of Mortality: Chain
Custom Cowl: Plate

I'm sorry, but that's really funny. Just to make things worse, you should dye it pink. Smiley: laugh

Oh yeah, and never trust someone with Joph's reputation...especially if his/her name is Jophiel.

Oh, I know it's funny. But it's sad, too.

I really wish I understood why there's so much confusion about the Cowls of Mortality. I'm no longer confused, of course, but I just don't understand why so many people say either one or the other has no graphic. Almost no one I've met in-game has said they BOTH have a graphic...

Sure, stats a the most important thing, but looks play a role, too. Otherwise, no one would dye their armor and we'd all have randomly generated faces...

depends on class I think

Actually it may be a racial thing too. I bought a duskwoven robe and an aug not knowing if it would have a robe look or a tunic look (called a robe but had the tunic graphic thingy). I figured I'd try the robe on and if it was a tunic put the aug in and if not just sell the aug and dump the robe.

I put it on and it had a tunic look so I augged it then logged. Logged back in later and it reverted to the robe look. Weird thing is, with a half elf illusion up, it is a graphicless look and dyes don't work on it in half elf form.

Isn't the Custom Cowl just a Cowl you handed in to an NPC?

Ah HA!

Well, the Velious quest helm start off without a graphic which was the best part of getting my Skyshrine helm so many ages ago. You have to hand them in to become a "Custom" helm for them to have a graphic. I assumed, based off that, that the Cowl started off sans graphic as well since it has the same turn-in quest to make it Custom.
