EQ1 all the way!!!
Seriously, I tried EQ2 and it was ok but finally came back to EQ1 and have not regreted the decision. I got bored of EQ2 fairly quickly. There are a lot of new things which I myself am still learning but I'm having fun doing it.

I agree. I played EQ1 since '99. I quit here and there, always came back. I even bought EQ2 and played it for 2 months. Nothing is like the original. Now I have so much time invested in EQ1, I'll probably play till they quit letting me.

OMG! lol... you men and your crazy rpg's! /em wonders whatever happened to that guy that used to take me out on weekends and buy me stuff :/ I have heard terrible things about EQ2, but I'm gonna try it anyway. I think it depends on how you play the game if you're gonna like 1 or 2 better. Personally, if there is a quest that I have to do I just look it up on this site because there is no way I'm going to read that NPC crap. In other words I think I'll be back to EQ1 in about 20 min. There is about half a million posts in the EQ2 part of alla asking about the differences between 1 & 2. Go check out my post, it's at the top of the general forum, and people actually posted stuff applicable to my questions!

Also, as bad as EQ1 graphics are, EQ2 toons look like improved power puff girl drawings. The get up of the game looks like it should be in a comic book store's sale rack. It may have bright and sparkly graphics flying around a little more than EQ1, but it just looks so cheesy to me. I dunno... maybe I just like my rectangle hair, triangular horse, and to see rocks with points :D

I'm also considering coming back.

I tried EQ2 for a couple of months. The engine its good and very smooth. Good graphics. Quests are great.

There are a few problems that made me quit.

1st off I wanted to play a Bard thinking it was going to be a character around the lines of EQ1. For the most part it was, but no Selos :( ,no twisting of songs and soloing is completely out of the question after you hit 20.

Oh and forget about Kiting.

In addition, a lot of people are still learning to play and dont have an idea of how the mechanics in groups work.

Having played all PCs in EQ1 well including a bard ( my fav) you can imagine I am a control freak and playing with joystick mongers drives me insane. A lot of those in EQ2.

Another bad thing is the tradeskill grind. It would be worth it if you didint have to spend so much time on it.

The strategy for groups is very different and personally EQ1s is much more fun and challenging.

Some of the things that irritated me about eq (like trying to keep track of quests) were addresed in eq2. but Eq2 seemed so...blah! I played for 2 months and quit. Went back to eq and am still having a ball with it even after 3+ years...has it been that long?

For about $21 US a month you can play both EQ and EQ2 as well as having a full subscription to SWG and Planetside.

Pick up the Station Access Pass to solve the dilema of having to decide what SOE game to play. Works out cheaper than even paying for a 6 month subscription to 2 of these games.

well, I tried EQ2 last year too. ended up cancelling it 2 months later, and went back to EQ.

let the learmning curve be steep, let the graphics be not up to date in some zones, but for ME the number of tactics/variations (e.g. pulling, kiting) makes more then up for it.

try it, and find out yerself :)
