Nameless here...
It was a blast! I died 7 times during all the chaos and got some great loot. Here is the write up that I made on another board...
Orc's raid GFAY. 07-13-05 event.
Tymme, Littlecrow and myself were just finishing a little tradeskill romp in Hollowshade Moore. Littlecrow asked to be sent to Greater Faydark to close out the evening and obligingly I sent him on his way. All of the sudden we get a group tell from Littlecrow that there were some strange orcs in Greater Faydark and he couldn't get into Felwithe (the orcs were blocking his way)!
So Tymme and I tromped on over and sure enough, mass groups of orcs were attacking the groups of elves that were stationed throughout the zone. These guys were not the run of the mill Crushbone orcs. Most were blue to 69 and usually the orc groups had an Orc Battle Leader (Yellow to 69) amongst them. So as I was watching one of the fights, I pop the Battle Leader to see what happens. I didn't get aggro and the elves proceeded to slaughter the orcs. To my surprise I got faction and exp and the corpse didn't fade as normal when NPC kills NPC. I looted the corpse and got an amazing mask and a Lesser Elixer of Heightened learning (30pct + exp over 15min).
So I tried this technique again. The problem is that I forgot there were enchanters in the elves mix and I unknowingly nuked a charmed Battle Leader. I promply got pounded through the geometry and found myself standing in Shadeweavers thicket...naked.
Here is a little info that I learned about the orcs.
1) The groups of orcs spawn near orc hill and move out from there. Respawn time is pretty quick and a Battle Leader is with almost every group.
2) They run like the normal Crushbone orcs. J-boots can out run them.
3) They hit wicked hard.
4) They have a good amount of HP
5) It seemed the Battle Leader was the only one who had loot
Basically, you could pull the Battle Leader into a group of elves and let them do the killing. You need to do a minor amount of damage to get faction and you need to do more damage than other players (who are not in your group) in order to get loot and exp. You need to continuously con the Battle Leader to ensure he is not charmed when you attack. Be wary, the elf enchanters can charm at any time, including when you are in the middle of fighting and this can lead to undesired results.
All in all it was a chaotic mess and a hell of a lot of fun. At most there were about 87 people in zone (only like 15 when I got there). Item drops were the mask (link inc.), exp potions, illusion potions and rusty swords. The event stopped around 1:30am est at which point, I was so damn tired I don’t remember going to bed LOL. I would like to say that Felwithe and Kelethin still stands, which is a good thing. YAY
