Easter EggsFollow

I have been looking around, but without much luck. (I sure I need to look harder, but hey it's a busy day at work lol)

Have you guys found or know of some Easter Eggs in EQ? If so please share.

I don't know of any "true" easter eggs, but I used to use a custom UI that had an easter egg. If you clicked on a certain part of the UI, it would play a scene from LotR. Nothing all that special I guess, but I thought it was neat.
#3 Jul 11 2005 at 2:50 PM Rating: Decent
Off Topic lol

How are those custom UIs? I have never tried them out of fear it would crash my EQ.exe. Are they stable for the most part? Also, not to sound like a geek… but does it violate SoE rules?

If not on both accounts would you mind replying with a link to some?

Thanks,

And don't forget Bait Masterson in Freeport, and Wella Fargo in FV.

Edited to add: There used to be a mob in the Plane of Growth who would flip out and kill you if you said "Phat lewts" to him. I think that was nerfed, though.

Xi Vius

There was an arcade coin video game I played way back when called that. It was one word, spelled differently maybe 'Xevious'

I may be wrong, but I think there was a PoMischief mob who'd tell you to go talk to the PoG prince and ask him about it. Was largely before my time though (I was playing, just not in Velious) and I might be wrong.

There's a bard in E. Freeport who occassionally sings a parody of an old Liz Phair song.

No, I think you're right. I had typed out PoM first, but I knew the Prince who flips out ninja-style was in PoG, so it's likely that the referral is from PoM.

Damn those mischievous referral services!

I believe there are 2 guards in Qeynos or Qeynos hills by the names of Regis and Philbin.

The Guards in Netherbian Lair used to say stupid things...
"No one Expects the Seru Inquisition!"
and something else I forget... Havn't been there in forever though so.

Also I dunno if you'd consider it an easter egg but there were ways onto the tops of almost all the main cities (the ones that had roofs anyways.) That made for some fun times way back when...

If you talk to lithiniath in PoM they will eventually say "Prince Thirneg of the Tunarian Court has amassed a vast supply of Phat Lewtz!" or something like that. I am pretty sure he still will death touch you too.

qeynos is sony eq backwards like someone else said, but the weird part is that qeynos existed when verant made the game. Some people make a huge ditinction betweent verant and soe. sony must have been part of the original though.

There are two rats in Dragon Necropolis named Neb and Dralliw - Willard and Ben spelled backward (from the movie "Willard", of course).

Quote:
Sony Online Entertainment and Verant's history can be seen as starting with Sony Interactive Studios America (SISA), an internal game development studio of Sony that formed around 1995. In 1996, John Smedley was put in charge of SISA's development of an online computer role-playing game that would evolve into EverQuest. He hired Brad McQuaid and Steve Clover as programmers for the game in March.

In April 1998, Sony Online Entertainment was formed by merging Sony Online Ventures with Sony Pictures Entertainment. [1] (http://www.internetnews.com/bus-news/article.php/19841) Within months SISA was renamed 989 Studios. EverQuest, which was credited to being developed by 989 and published by SOE at launch, entered beta in 1998.

Towards the end of 1998, 989 Studios shifted strategy to making PlayStation console games only. The company's computer game/online development branch spun off, initially calling itself RedEye Interactive and then soon after Verant Interactive. [2] (http://www.cdmag.com/articles/017/143/verant.html) EverQuest was released in March 1999 and promptly earned commercial success.

Sony and Everquest have always been together.

Felwithe = White Elf
All I can think of at the moment.

The Gods and Demi gods contain easter eggs. Rearrange the letters:

E'ci=Ice
Fennin Ro=Inferno, plus an extra n
Tunare=Nature
Veeshan=Heavens
Rolforn Zek=Forlorn Zek
Tarew=water
Povar=vapor
The Rathe=the earth
Xegony=Oxygen
Rodcet Nife=Doctor Fine

Faydwer is dwarfey.
There's the mob Diggs Duggun, like the Namco game.

Merchant Tekrama, who sells trader satchels, spelled backwards is a markeT.
Bob the painter is named after somebody in the credits.

There's a guard in SH named Hallabac
And surely there is much more.

Ooooo Ya!

I dunno how well known it is to non-veterans... Half of you will be like "duh" and the other half will be like "no effing way."

Anyways theres an underwater room in Timorous Deep called the Combine Chamber (AKA Pot Room). You have to swim way out NW (I believe.) If you have some of the computer generated maps you may actually see it on them. Just look for an ancient combine's 4 poles sticking out of the water.

Each of the pots in the rooms sends you to each of the Kunark & Pre-Kunark home towns, and then a few of them send you to other places. I actually don't know all of them for sure, I got kinda bored of testing them all out.

Its a cool lil place though, just lookout for Feydedar...
